Tirzepatide + B12 = 💣?

I know the narrative is always about shutting down compounded formulas, but this is important regardless... especially for people who mix B12 when they're reconstituting tirz. Apparently, there's a concerning level of an impurity when you mix tirzepatide with some forms of vitamin B12, according to a recent letter.

"The continued widespread distribution of untested compounded drugs is an unacceptable risk for patients." Really? Or is it about keeping profits sky high and limiting access to compounded meds?

I totally agree about the motives, it's pretty obvious. That said, since I know some people here use B12 with their tirz, I figured this was worth mentioning. I don't even use tirz myself! But if I did, I'd probably do B12 separately.

I dunno... the rebuttal makes some good points. Why a press release instead of contacting regulators? And why not get other scientists to replicate the study?

Yeah, Lilly is just scaring everyone about compounded stuff, as usual.

I jumped to Zepbound...so I guess I sold out to the dark side (I'm not a fan of big pharma).

I'm still hoarding my tirz, just in case I get cut off...and maybe some Reta too, just for kicks.

I'm playing devil's advocate here.

I get being annoyed with big pharma and thinking it's all about money. But, the simple fact is that mixing tirzepatide and B12 hasn't been thoroughly studied. So, yeah, the safety is unknown.

And why IS B12 being added? Maybe for marketing? Maybe to make a "new" product that avoids patent issues? It makes sense to be skeptical on all sides. The safety issue IS real, and we can't just ignore it because a big company said so.

Both things can be true at once 😉

Agreed, both are possible.

My main issue is they didn't give any facts. Just said it, with no source or other info. "We found this." Okay, what was tested? How old was it? Where did it come from?

Related to all these GLP-1 meds, I saw an alert from the UK: anyone on semaglutide needs to watch for vision changes and get to the ER ASAP if they notice anything. It's a really rare risk of something called NAION.

Good to know! Thanks for the heads-up. Always good to stay informed about potential side effects, even rare ones.
