Reta plateau at week 10 - dose up?

Just updating on my journey, not really worried.

Ten weeks down, 30lbs gone, but the scale hasn't budged in almost two weeks. Currently on 2.5mg.
 
That's a pretty rapid initial loss, which isn't always sustainable. Sounds like a great start, and you're at a low dosage, so there's plenty of room to go higher and get things moving again. Good luck!
 
That's what I was thinking. Averaging over 2lbs a week is pretty good. Seems like most people need to increase the dose eventually.
 
2.5mg is just the starting dose. Time to go up. You knew this was coming. Congrats on the progress.
 
That's a HUGE loss for such a low dose! Amazing work!!

I'm also starting low and not seeing those kinds of results. About a month in and I've only lost like 3 or 4 lbs.
 
Great job! If you think you've stalled, the usual advice is to titrate up. But first, think about if you're still feeling less hungry and whether you could improve your diet or add more exercise.

I thought I'd stalled on 7.5mg of Tirz when I didn't lose anything during the first month, but the next month I lost like 8lbs. Little tweaks can make a difference. And remember, don’t get hung up on specific numbers. Everyone's journey is different.
 
I was, like, 30lbs over my ideal weight, but after losing about 25 lbs I stalled. Harder to lose those last few! Someone who is way overweight may need to titrate up. Is it even a stall if you're on the starting dose? 15% loss on 2.5 mg sounds right. The first 10 lbs are likely water weight anyway. If you aren't eating more, you're probably still losing fat looking at the graph. Just increase the dose.
 
To make a better assessment, what are your macros?

People think they're stalled because when they start, their TDEE is, say, 2750 calories and they eat 1750, losing 2 lbs a week. But as they lose weight, their TDEE drops to 2250, and they're still eating 1750. If you don't adjust your macros, you might think you're stalled when you just need to adjust intake.

So, titrate up only if the medicine stops working. Check your macros first, then adjust medication.
 
First off… congrats on losing 30lbs!

You should think about increasing the dose now. I think 2.5mg is practically just the initial dose used in clinical trials. Also, focus on other changes, like your clothes fitting better. You are still changing even if the scale isn't moving.

Also, the closer you get to your goal, the harder you have to work. I've lost 115lbs since my highest weight and now have 90lbs left to lose. I feel so much better, but I'm not carrying around the extra weight, so I burn fewer calories. To keep losing, I've had to do more activity or increase the intensity of what I do (weights, speed, etc.).
 
I’m in kind of the same boat right now.

Trying to decide whether to cut calories or exercise more. My diet hasn’t changed much and I still have less hunger even on my low dose of 1mg per week.
 
Two weeks isn't a stall. Your body is getting used to the new weight. You lost weight fast. But you're on a low dose, so you have room to go up.
 
If you're only looking at the scale, you aren't seeing everything. A true stall is when your body fat, lean mass, and waist measurements also aren't changing. I had times where my weight didn't change but my body fat went down and my muscle mass went up. Those weren't stalls, just my body adjusting.
 
I'm stuck just above my goal weight too! This reddit thread is full of people in the same boat. I'm on a 12.5 dose and been bouncing between 201 and 203 for almost two months. So frustrating!
 
Good call [mention]Snack_Go493[/mention]! I've been working out more, so maybe I am gaining muscle. I'm going to focus on how my clothes fit for now.
 
Reading this reddit thread about slow losers is making me feel better. I've only lost a few pounds. Some people are only losing like 2-3lbs a month!
 
The bodyweight-adjusted dosing idea makes intuitive sense. Higher starting weight likely means different receptor distribution and potentially different absorption dynamics. The two-week plateau at week 10 is common regardless of dose - the body stabilizes rather than losing consistently. Whether dosing up is the answer depends on whether there are still side effects present; if it's a clean plateau with no residual GI issues, titrating up is reasonable. If side effects are still active, the plateau may just be adaptation.
