Booze on Semaglutide - anyone?

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder: let's keep the discussion focused on approved medications and avoid any talk about sourcing or selling. Also, if you're new to this, check out the FAQ. Stay safe and happy!

I still drink occasionally. The difference is now I might have one or two drinks twice a week, whereas before it was closer to six or eight every day LOL

Nah, not the end of the world. It's not calorie-smart, but you haven't ruined everything. I don't get terrible symptoms when I drink, but my urge to drink has really declined. Used to think about it all the time. Now, not so much. If you haven't had alcohol in a while and you've lost some pounds, your tolerance will likely be lower. That's all.

I tried it last week - had three drinks over a few hours. No immediate issues but I felt awful for like 48 hours after. Brutal hangover and stomach problems (nausea, diarrhea, pain). I won't be repeating that experiment.

Your body will prioritize metabolizing alcohol before burning fat, so you're slowing yourself down for a few days. You gotta ask if it's worth it. It's counterproductive. Sure, some people still see results, but you'll lose more weight faster and generally feel better without alcohol.

Go ahead and drink if you want. I have to say, I used to LOVE to drink. I'd get excited about planning where we would go to eat and drink, looking at the menus. I loved hearing the bottle open or the drink being made and the first sip! I started in July 2025. We went to Vegas near the end of July. Instead of having 2-3 bottles at lunch, it was one. We went back in Jan 2026 - I had four drinks the whole trip. Drinking isn't a big deal for me anymore. If I have a drink, great. If not, that's great too. I don't miss it. It's wild to not care or crave it.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! Good to know I didn't totally mess things up. I will definitely try to limit the drinking, though.

I've noticed some weird reactions from my friends since starting this medication. One of my friends was kind of snide when I told her - like I was cheating or something. Anyone else experience that?

Oh yeah, the jealousy is real. Some people just can't stand that you're losing weight and they're not. It's like they need you to stay overweight so they feel better about themselves.
