Reta anxiety - talk me off a ledge?

Hello everyone! I'm a total newbie here, but I've already gleaned so much from all of you – thanks a bunch! My little lab mice are a week into their Reta experiment (at 1.75mg), and the preliminary results are encouraging. Since I'm new, a quick background: my rats are generally fit and active, but they've accumulated some extra padding during the pandemic that's proven stubborn to shed. I initially sourced their first dose from a well-known US supplier (a reseller), who, like many, inflate peptide prices significantly. For a single 10mg vial, I'm paying what could get me an entire kit from other sources mentioned here. The upside is the detailed sterility testing, COAs, and batch info – it eases my mind, truthfully. However, their prices aren't sustainable long-term. With their current weight loss trajectory and activity, I'm planning a month of ramp-up, two to three months at a steady dose, and then a month of tapering. The prices I've seen from some vendors would make this affordable, and I'd likely need about ten 10mg vials for my rats. Here's my dilemma... I'm a major hypochondriac. Not just the casual "I hope this isn't serious" type, but a clinically diagnosed one. My biggest fear about buying directly from overseas suppliers is sterility and the potential health consequences for my rats... you know... buying from abroad. I realize that most US resellers also source from overseas and resell, but the worry of something going wrong and harming my rats is overwhelming. I think I've identified a supplier through this forum that I'm about 90% comfortable with, but I can't find any proof of sterility testing, only purity. I know there's always risk involved, but can anyone help me overcome the remaining 10% of my hesitation? Thanks!

Since it's not pharmaceutical grade, you won't find any cast-iron guarantees. Nobody can give those. If you do solid research, there are threads dedicated to vendor talks. Grab from a vendor with plenty of followers, more than 4 or 5k, with decent reviews, and not just popping up. Never buy from brand new vendors! They need to be showing off test results, although no certainty if it's real. You can be pretty safe if you apply some filtering. Join a testing group too. It's really rare for stuff to go wrong. But when it happens, everyone is quick to share the info. You may have mixed peps, sometimes nothing at all. It's not common though. You bought from a reseller already? It's not much of a jump. Probably source from same factory, just different tops, lol.

I get those concerns too. From my experience, doing your homework and looking at all of the feedback on this site gives you a level of peace of mind. Happened to me. Best of luck with your research.

There are enough resources here to assess a vendor decently. If one goes bad, word gets around super fast. I see issues with shipping, plus some scammers pretending to be real vendors, but not many bad product reports. I haven't been here long, but I read a lot every day. I haven't seen any recent bad reports. Seems uncommon. If you still worry after vetting a vendor, maybe gray market stuff isn't for you. You can spend more to get it tested properly if you don't want to write it off.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! It seems like the consensus is research, research, research! I really appreciate the support. Drew71, you're right, it's probably coming from the same place anyway lol. That actually does help a little bit.

I just started sema this week, and I was super nervous about injecting myself. I barely felt it! The hydration and protein advice I got were so helpful! I'm hoping this is finally it for weight loss!

Congrats on starting your journey! I agree, staying hydrated makes a huge difference in managing early side effects.

Reta anxiety is real and you're definitely not alone in it. It settles down once you see what the side effects actually are for you personally. The unknown is the scariest part.
