Adding a splash of reta to tirz?

For those who've maxed out on tirzepatide and hit a wall, and then added a bit of retatrutide, I'm curious about your experience. I'm about to hit the highest dose, currently at 12mg, and only have a little more weight to lose. How much reta did you add to get things moving again? I'm hesitant to switch from tirz due to the other health benefits I've experienced over the past half-year.

I was looking for a little extra push after plateauing on tirz, so I started adding 1 mg of reta around a month and a half ago. I take tirz on Wednesdays, and reta on Saturdays or Sundays. I didn't notice a huge difference right away and was nervous about upping my tirz at the same time, so I stayed put, but after the second week I noticed a difference. I've read it takes a little time to build up in your system, so patience is key! It definitely helped keep my appetite in check while staying on a lower dose of tirz. A few weeks later, I increased my tirz by half a mg and boosted my reta by .5 two weeks after that, so now I'm at 1.5 mg of reta weekly on top of my tirz, and it's really making a difference!

My goal is to continue both until I've dropped another 30-40 pounds, and then I'd like to wean off tirz and stick with a small amount of reta.

I definitely suggest adding it to your routine, keeping the dose as low as possible, and being patient in the beginning. I hope you have the same success!

I'm also interested in stacking reta. I can say that when I needed to shed those last few pounds, I started lifting weights 3 times a week, and the weight came off pretty easily. My thought is that increased muscle mass means a faster metabolism.

I'm on metformin and about to start a GLP-1. I've been on metformin for around 9 months, losing and regaining about 10-15 pounds each cycle. Is there any advantage to staying on metformin when I start the GLP-1? My doctor will know best, I'm sure. Just curious about personal experiences.

I've heard of people taking both. They work differently in the body. Definitely ask your doctor. Some people find they can reduce or eliminate insulin while staying on metformin.

I've seen some of my patients stay on metformin when starting GLP-1s, at least initially. It often helps manage insulin resistance. Some also find they can eventually reduce their metformin dosage as the GLP-1 takes effect, but that's a conversation to have with your physician.

Hey all - I'm down about 170 pounds over 3 years. I swim a couple miles a day, walk a mile, sauna and cold plunge. Been on max dose tirz for about 2.5 years. I also take sermorelin a few nights a week to build muscle. I feel really good. Aiming to lose another 40-50 pounds while adding more muscle.

The cold sensitivity increase from adding Reta on top of tirz is a real pattern - the combination affects thermoregulation more than either compound alone, and losing the insulation layer while the effect is strongest tends to amplify it. Most people find it settles as the body acclimates to the lower adiposity.

The carb reintroduction approach is right for anyone doing real exercise - Reta's suppression is strong enough to take carbs off the table without you noticing, and that deficit plus training is a direct muscle catabolism path. Adding them back deliberately and watching what the training response does is the sensible way to handle it.

The headache presentation alongside the observation from people you live with about looking unwell is worth taking seriously as a dose signal - when the side effect burden becomes visible to others who don't know the protocol, that's a reasonable indicator to step back rather than push through. The first intervention worth trying is fluid and electrolyte management before any dose reduction, but both options should stay on the table.
