Just got my sema, now what?

Hey everyone! So I finally got my semaglutide, super excited, but also super confused. I ordered an 8-week supply from an online place, expecting pre-filled syringes ready to go. Instead, I got a bunch of syringes, like 20 of them, and each has 5 mls in it. I am attaching a picture of a similar syringe I found. I'm not sure if I can take multiple syringes in the same day to make it last 8 weeks, but I'm worried about doing something wrong. I spent a lot of money, and I am hoping to find some guidance. Thanks so much!

That syringe is just a syringe. It is not filled with medication. You need to determine how many 'units' to inject. Your prescription will tell you how many units you need. Do NOT inject the contents of multiple syringes. You will get very sick.

Oh man, I totally get that feeling of excitement turning into 'wait, what?'

It sounds like you probably got a lower concentration, so you'll need multiple syringes per dose. The 5ml probably means it's diluted. You REALLY need to find the concentration, like '2.5mg/ml' listed somewhere. Contact the company ASAP. Don't inject multiple syringes until you know what's up; it could be dangerous. I had the same problem with my first order; they sent a weaker version. It took me a week to straighten out!

Yeah, it sounds like they sent you pre-filled syringes, but with a lower dose in each one. So each syringe might have, like, 0.5mg or 1mg, instead of your full weekly dose. You NEED to find the concentration, it's usually listed as mg/ml. Then figure out how many ml you need to get your prescribed dose. You might have to combine a few syringes each week. I had to do all the math myself the first time, their instructions were awful.

Exactly. People going rogue with this stuff is a bad idea. I've seen posts where people are adjusting their doses without talking to their doctor, or using their friend's leftover pens, or buying it from shady sources. It's important to have baseline lab work and be monitored by a professional.

Thanks everyone for responding so quickly! I don't see any concentration info anywhere, so I'll definitely reach out to the telehealth company. I was just so excited and jumped the gun a bit. @CleanMode, thanks for sharing your experience, makes me feel less alone in this!

For those who are increasing their dose, maybe take it slow. I saw someone on Reddit mention they were going from 1mg to 2mg and were nervous: Go to 1.5 first. Everyone reacts differently, so take it easy. You can always go back down if you're having side effects.

Compounded sema comes as a lyophilized powder vial requiring BAC water reconstitution - not a pre-filled syringe. Add BAC water slowly down the vial wall, swirl gently, refrigerate. The ordering process rarely explains the format.

Got my first order in and noticed on some vials the powder settles toward the bottom when tilted. Is that a problem? Did I get air contamination? Other vials don't do that.

Since starting, chicken hits different for me. I used to demolish 2 grilled teriyaki cutlets easy, but now even 1 makes me feel rough. A full beef steak though? Still handle that fine like before.

For lyophilized: stays stable for months at room temp in a dark cool spot, years in the freezer. Once reconstituted it's best in the fridge and most people use it within 30 days or so. Just keep it away from light and temperature swings.

Yeah I get those days too. On 1mg I'll eat stuff I don't even want because it's there, even when I'm not actually hungry. Had a whole box of chocolates like that last week. Gotta tighten it up pretty soon on the food choices.

Get the dosing math right before you inject anything - know your concentration and how many units = your starting dose. First inject should be the smallest protocol dose (usually 0.25mg). Light food, extra water, same day every week. Side effects in week one are often the worst so don't panic or change your schedule. This community has answered every question before - ask anything.

You're gonna get through this. Try the breathing thing - four counts in, four out, works when anxiety kicks in. You're making a real change and yeah, it feels scary sometimes. But you already know you're strong.
