Will I finally fit on the rides?

I used to work at the happiest place on earth during my college days. Can you imagine how crushing it was to be turned away from a ride at a park in Europe because I couldn't squeeze in? It felt like a piece of me just...died. I know some of you understand. You just want to curl up and disappear, but you're surrounded by people, so you plaster on a smile and pretend it didn't happen, but the shame just festers.

And you'd think that experience would have been the push I needed to change, but it took another year of similar situations before I finally committed. But now, here I am!

Tomorrow, I'm heading to Disney, and I'm almost 100lbs lighter than my last theme park trip. Fingers crossed I'll fit on everything this time! What do y'all think? Wish me luck!

I bet you will! I know that feeling of being humiliated so well. I remember being in Belgium at almost 310 pounds and wanting to just sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere with a beer. Well, I got stuck in my chair! I had to stay seated for way longer than I should have! I got up and the chair came with me! I was so embarrassed! Thank goodness I had a hat to hide my face!

Wow, congrats! You look amazing! I bet you feel great! I totally get it. My wife and I are amusement park fanatics and want to travel just to ride rollercoasters. That's why we started trying to lose weight. We knew traveling alone would be tiring, but walking around parks all day and fitting in ride seats would be a challenge too.

We've been to several parks this year already and it's been a blast! I will say, rollercoasters are scarier when you're thinner and have extra space in the restraints. Congrats again on the weight loss journey!

Congrats! You look fab. I used to dread amusement parks with my kids. I enjoyed the rides when I was younger, but after I gained the weight I'd avoid them because I was scared of not fitting. I was too ashamed to admit it, so I told them I was tired of rides. My husband went with them, and he got to experience them for the first time as an adult.

Good job putting in the effort! You must feel so much better!

I understand your humiliation. I was in Mexico with my two sons, who were 13 and 10 at the time. I really wanted to go horseback riding on the beach, which I'd always dreamed of. When we got to the stables, the owner looked me up and down and said, "I think I have a horse that can hold you." (The horses were smaller there, but I was still under 200 pounds.)

My sons are now in their late 30s, and I *still* cringe when I think about that moment...I still remember it and think about it! It bothers me that she thought I could hurt the horse.

I'm 69 now and finally at my goal weight of 140 pounds (I'm 5'5"). I don't know if I'll ever get to ride a horse again. Maybe I'll look around for a place nearby to try it out. What do you think?

Have a super fun time at the park! You're going to have an awesome time!

I'm at 285 right now, down 25. I don't think I can fit on any rides yet. But my goal is to be able to hold my kids' hands on a rollercoaster for the first time, since they are all riding them without me. It sucks. I'll get there, and I'm happy to see that you're getting to fly high again too 🤙🏼

That's such a great goal! I know you'll reach it. It's not just about the rides, it's about sharing those experiences with your kids. You got this!

Wow, @FitGirl, you're really inspiring me! I've had prediabetes and some heart issues, and I've been struggling to lose weight forever. I can work out and eat right, but I only lose like 20, maybe 25 pounds, and then I stall. Then I caught COVID and gained everything back within months 😬. Maybe I should talk to my doc about sema...
