Shot day and progress tracker recs?

Hey everyone, getting ready to kick off my journey with some injectables after chatting with my doc. Been lurking here for a while, and I've seen some folks mention they like doing their shot on the weekend because of possible fatigue. Is that a common thing, or does it just hit everyone differently? What's been your experience with timing the shot? Also, what app are you all using to keep tabs on your doses and progress?

Any lessons learned or advice for someone just starting out?

EDIT: Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! Super helpful.

I've been using Glapp.io and it's pretty awesome. It tracks not just weight, but also mood, any side effects, the dose cycle, and even gives you reports. It's also completely free.

I started on Wednesdays since I'm not working right now. I had zero side effects from 2.5mg until my 3rd dose, which sent me to the ER with hives. I stopped for 2 weeks then resumed 2.5mg with no issues.

But when I went up to 5mg, I felt so weak, tired, and depressed. It felt like I was getting zero sleep and had some suicidal ideation. After 3 days, it got way better. Glapp.io shows the med peaking and wearing off, which matches what I feel.

I'm prepping for my next 5mg dose this Wednesday, but I might switch to Fridays later on, maybe when I start a new job or something. I would recommend sticking to 2.5mg for longer and really letting your body adjust.

Keep some easy-to-eat snacks handy. Sudden stomach issues can be fixed by eating something small. Also, drink a lot more water than you think you need. Sip it slowly instead of chugging it.

It kinda depends on what your social life around food is like, as well as your health goals. I've noticed it peaks about 36 hours after the shot.

I picked Saturday for no real reason and I haven't had any side effects at all (currently on 10mg weekly). I never knew there was an app to monitor progress.

I don't use an app or weigh myself. I take my shot on Wednesday mornings since that's when I got my first fill.

I inject Friday evenings. I figured if I had problems, I'd rather deal with them on Sunday. I haven't had any issues so far. I use MeAgain and Shotsy, but I'm not super impressed with either one. I like my spreadsheet better. I also use Happy Scale and Lose It. When I'm really focused on fitness, I wear my Garmin watch. When I'm not, I use my Apple watch. I use a Renpho scale and tape measure.

I follow Jamie Selzler and Dr. Matthea Rentea on the gram. I also love Dr. Rentea's podcast. I follow SmallSteps4LastingChange - Marnie Williamson and Lawliepops too.

I do mine on Friday mornings now so I don't need a pen if I have a weekend trip planned. I haven't noticed a difference in side effects based on the day, so I just stick with the day I got my first script.

It actually doesn’t matter what day you take your shot. Just pick a day and time that works best for you. If you want to change the day later, there’s instructions in the patient info that comes with every refill.

I've settled into Sunday night shots. It's the only way to prevent the bad insomnia it tends to give me. I can deal with the Monday/Tuesday nausea since I work from home. This way, I can enjoy my entire weekend. I also use Shotsy.

I started my journey in November 2025 and I'm currently on a 7.5mg maintenance dose. I inject every Monday night. I didn't have big side effects like throwing up, but I did get nauseous. As I increased the dosage, I noticed gas, slower digestion, and constipation. Overeating, even on a low dose, will give you intense gut pain. I learned to eat healthier, whole foods. I sometimes eat junk food, but my body immediately tells me to stop. Peppermint tea has been my friend every day.

It seems to change the connection in my brain between cooking and enjoying food, and I haven't cooked much since I went up to 7.5 mg. I would eat what others made, but I didn't want to be in the kitchen slaving over a meal. I loved cooking fancy dishes before, but now I'm happy just baking some salmon. I would get the urge to cook on Sundays, when the meds were wearing off, but I'd still keep it simple. Eat a healthy mix of protein and carbs. I stopped carbs completely and felt incredibly faint. As you lose weight, you might notice your hair falling out. That means you need more protein.

Also, I quit coffee and switched to tea. The slow gut movement meant my morning coffee would be processed at night, keeping me awake at 1am.

Just a heads up for everyone... when you get to the end of your pen, there's often a little bit left. Some people use an insulin syringe to pull out the last few clicks. It's not much, maybe 5 or 6 clicks worth, but it adds up! Don't just toss it!

Seriously?! I had no idea! I just threw one away last week. I'll have to try that next time. It's expensive stuff!
