Mounjaro - 2 Years Later!

I went to my checkup appointment earlier and both my doctor and I got emotional. Two years ago, I was seriously close to going on insulin. I've had T2D for 3 decades. I told her with tears in my eyes that I was trying everything - healthy food, working out, etc. - but nothing was helping. I actually went in to ask about a different medicine, and she put me on Mounjaro. Now I'm getting ready for a full marathon, I could barely walk up the stairs back then! The first pic is from right before I began in June of '23, the second is from June '25. My life's totally changed - I eat better, want to work out, and have so much more energy and self-assurance. Big thanks to this group for all the support! I'm looking forward to a long and healthy life!

Original Weight: 223 lbs, Current Weight: around 119 lbs, A1C was 8.2, now it's 5.6! Still staying on the 7.5 mg dose.

That's amazing! Were you a runner before starting the meds?

I'm only a few weeks in, but I almost immediately started cycling constantly. I've always struggled to get myself to exercise, and now I'm just... hopping on my bike and riding for 45 minutes several times a week, just for fun? It's so strange, like I'm not even in control of my body lol

I saw someone else post that their A1C went down to normal and their doc said they were still diabetic. That's... wrong. You can absolutely get out of the diabetic range! Good for you for finding a new doctor who understands that.

I'm a little worried about losing TOO much weight. I wasn't that heavy when I started (5'10", around 180 lbs), and I've already dropped about 20 pounds. I'm taking it for diabetes, and it's working great for that, but I'm starting to see my ribs and loose skin. I don't want to look unhealthy. Anyone else experience this?

Maybe talk to your doc about lowering your dose? Also, strength training can help you maintain muscle mass.

I'm so happy for you and everyone else sharing their wins! It's been such a game-changer for so many of us. Keep up the great work, everyone!

A1c's holding at 5.5. on 15mg now. pushing to get Mounjaro approved—insurance doesn't think i have diabetes—so doc and i are using Zepbound for now.
