Kinda slow loss. Anyone else?

Hey all! I'm at the half-year mark. Not seeing the crazy fast results some share here (like 5kg a month), but it's been pretty consistent. Had a stall in February, upped my dose to .75mg, and things are moving again. Started at 123kg, then 121kg when I started the meds on Sept 26th. Now I'm at 108.5kg. That's 14.5kg down overall, 12.5kg of it with the medication. I'm 175cm, aiming for 75-80kg. I have Hashimoto's disease, and a big win is my thyroid numbers are already better!

I do Pilates 3x a week and added strength training twice weekly. Plus, I walk every day. My diet is all about protein and fiber. I won't lie, the pace has been tough sometimes, but I feel so much better. I know I'll be happy I stuck with it a year from now.

My progress has been slow but sure as well. 7 months in, a bit over 9kg lost. I don’t weigh myself a lot. My pants fit better and my bra size went down. Cholesterol is much better. SW: 86kg, CW 75kg. I'm 5'1. Felt like I wasn't seeing the results fast enough like others, but I'm happy with how it's going. You aren't alone!

Most of the stories here are the big wins, which can skew our expectations. Aim for 15% weight loss overall, and you're almost there already.

That's a big win already. Keep going!

I got about 12% after 8 months. I might need to switch to something stronger later, like mounjaro. But right now I'm happy!

I've used it for about two and a half years, lost around 18kg (109kg to 89kg). Actually happy with the slower progress – my skin is doing well. Some months are slow, others I lose 2kg out of nowhere.

Everyone's different. Drink water, stay active, and eat healthy. Don't get discouraged! You'll get there!!

Hi @LeanStrong! 14kg in six months isn't slow at all! It just doesn't look as dramatic compared to those 5kg-a-month posts.

At your starting weight, that's consistent. With Hashimoto's, your thyroid labs improving is huge.

You're doing Pilates, strength training, walking, and focusing on protein and fiber. That's a sustainable plan. It's normal to compare yourself. But consistent wins over dramatic in the long run.

Averaging 2.5kg a month is great!
I also have Hashimoto's, and weight loss was impossible before semaglutide.
I'm watching my calories, and I've almost always eaten at a deficit. But with the thyroid issues, my body refused to lose weight.
I'm 52 and started HRT at the same time, which might also help. I'm also losing slower.

My numbers are close to yours. SW 123kg, GW 75-80kg. Started in July, I’m down 27kg. Back in the day (20-30 years ago), when I’d diet hard, I'd lose a good 4.5kg per month. But it didn't last. This time, I want 2-3kg per month, which is healthy. I worry about loose skin, so slower is better. I'll probably stay on these meds to maintain a healthy weight, so no rush.

So, you're doing great! Slow and steady wins, and we aren't even going that slow. Just stay the course! 😊

Like others have said, slow and steady is good. Some people lose weight fast and end up with saggy skin. Losing slowly, I haven't, and I'm trying to avoid it.

I dropped 16kg in 2024 then almost 18kg in 2025 without meds. That was 1.5-2kg per month. I learned healthy eating and exercise. Now I do dumbbells 3 days a week with walking on the treadmill or stationary bike 3 days. I had a good base before starting meds December 26th. Down about 5kg since. Slow weight loss is good. A healthy rate is 1.5-2kg!

I've lost maybe 2kg in 8 weeks, but I'm just now upping to 0.3 mg. I ordered 0.4 mg but I'm going slower. I can't stand feeling sick and weak. Hoping it's better next time. Been craving sweets again, so the medication isn't working as well, but I don't have bad side effects right now, which is good.

Yeah, I started in September and lost about the same as you, but my starting weight was heavier, so there's almost no visual difference. NSVs are rare. One shirt fits better. Exercise is a bit easier, but maybe because I'm not starving myself. It's discouraging, but I'm happy it's working at all. I've never lost this much before meds. It was always 4kg at most, and it came right back after I stopped dieting.

I saw someone mention stopping snacking. That's been huge for me. It's helped me cut out a lot of junk I didn't even realize I was eating.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, @LeanStrong! I added some 5k walks/jogs to my routines lately. It has really helped me feel better and get off some of my diabetes meds. Ozempic is a tool towards that goal.
