Reta - When does the magic happen?

Better

I'm three weeks in. Not feeling any less hungry, haven't seen the scale budge. Nada. Zilch.

Week 1 was 1 mg, then bumped it to 2 mg, splitting it into two shots of 1 mg each time. Seems like all I'm getting are downsides, namely zero joy and feeling super tired after my last dose.

Anyone else experience this? How long before you actually saw results? And does the blah feeling stick around, or is it just a post-injection thing?

Happy holidays, everyone.

It's different for everyone, but most people do respond to the meds, so stay positive! I lost about 115lbs, around 47% of my weight, in about a year using Tirz and Reta. It felt like forever at the time. My advice is to stick with it.

Up your dose slowly to minimize the bad stuff. The good effects build up over time, so just be patient. The journey can be life-changing.

You're still on a pretty low dose. I didn't notice appetite suppression until I hit 6 mg. The side effects might fade, or they might not. It varies. But the med is doing its thing from day one, even if you don't feel it.

Keep going! 🙂

My weight loss started the first week, but I also started a deficit *immediately*. If the scale isn't moving you aren't eating less than you burn.

I highly recommend tracking your calorie intake. It's hard to know if you are eating less if you aren't tracking. It's also how you monitor your personal titration schedule, your personal TDEE and macros.

I agree with Chris_16, calorie counting is a must to know where you are at. I also started working with a nutritionist and logging my food on their app showed me some shocking eating habits. And some funny conversations.

I'm a slow responder. 2mg wouldn't do anything for me personally. I don't get results until 6 and 8mg, and even then, it's not dramatic, so I add in some sema too. It took about 3 weeks to start seeing 1 to 2lbs drop off each week.

Just my opinion:

Splitting doses seems like a waste. No real science to back it up, and it might mess with how well it works compared to the clinical trials.

The first few weeks/months are for your body to adjust and for the drug to build up in your system. Go slow and steady; don't jump doses every week.

I responded VERY quickly to Semaglutide, but it took 6mg of Reta to feel anything, 8mg to be okay, and 12mg to be happy.

I recall reading about a guy who just started Retatrutide at 2.5mg and posting weekly updates. He mentioned no side effects initially, and his hunger levels stayed the same. Everybody's body reacts differently, it seems.

I read a summary of someone's early experiences with retatrutide, and they couldn't handle even a tiny bit of semaglutide due to extreme nausea and fatigue. But they said Reta was different. No nausea or fatigue, and they actually felt more energetic. Plus, they had a significant drop in appetite but could still enjoy food.

My friend was using Reta and dropped over 50 pounds in six months (with diet and exercise). Then insomnia hit her hard. She's trying a super low dose now to see if her body adjusts. Sometimes these things just don't work out.

Thanks for the input and sharing your experiences, everyone. I think I'll keep going and see what happens. It helps to know others have been there! And yes, I need to track my intake better. Happy New Year!

that chiropractor comment is just backwards basic pharmacology. tons of people here including me micro-dose to keep side effects down while keeping the appetite suppression and weight loss. stable blood levels beat spikey dosing pretty much every time.

all the comments sound brutal honestly. dose increases seem too high for a lot of people. i stretched my 2.5 for 13 days and just injected 1.25. fatigue and anhedonia hit hard—been in bed ten days. the side effects are crazy. go slow.

Accidentally grabbed my mom's 15mg pen instead of my 5mg and dosed. Just happened an hour ago, feeling okay so far but kinda anxious about tonight. Anyone else been through this?

the 'low and slow' cult on reddit and fb is intense but studies actually show you get better results on higher doses if you have weight to lose. there's no advantage to staying low but try saying that in some groups lol.

Month three was worst—nausea, constipation, heart palpitations from stomach irritation. Got better around six months but no weight loss at higher doses. Dropped back to 5mg, losing slow now, no side effects.

Most people on reta see the first clear results between weeks 4-8 - the mechanism takes longer to establish than tirz.
