Bloodwork on Tirzepatide?

For a first-timer dude using Tirz or another GLP, what tests do you recommend to keep tabs on things? I'm talking before starting and then maybe every half a year. I'm guessing a full blood workup, but what specifically should I be looking at? Thanks!

I just had my yearly physical and got a full blood panel. The doc just told me to get thinner and even offered a GLP-1 but said the price was too much. I'm trying to do that on my own, cheaper! I'm tracking pounds, blood pressure, and AM blood sugar with my weekly dose. Got everything ready to go when I get back from this trip.

I had a complete physical with bloodwork in June. My doc also suggested losing weight (surprise!). I started Mounjaro in late July, then moved to a compound and started prepping meals. I have a bloodwork appointment coming up next week. I'm hoping my cholesterol has improved so I can stop taking statins. Anything specific I should ask them to check?

Besides the standard tests, get an A1C and a cholesterol check. Diabetes doesn't just appear overnight. A1C shows your average blood sugar over the past few months, unlike a fasting blood sugar test. I had to push to get one when I turned 50, even though I was at risk. The doctor wanted to wait until my fasting sugar was high. And if you're tired, ask for a thyroid panel.

A normal screening should include cholesterol and blood sugar. I think I saw the most changes in those areas. Last year I was pre-diabetic, had high cholesterol, and borderline high blood pressure. I started Tirz in July. This year, I'm no longer pre-diabetic, my cholesterol is down 20 points, and my blood pressure is better. Huge changes in 3 months!

I'm hoping for similar results to SparkleStacy_RX, but if my estrogen is off, I want to know that too. I found this thread about labs and someone said testing estradiol can be tricky and take longer to get the results back. Fingers crossed mine are back soon! another forum

That's a good point, SnackRN. Hormone levels can definitely be affected by weight changes, so it's smart to keep an eye on those, especially if you're noticing any symptoms.

Wow! I just saw this Reddit thread where someone's A1C went from 13 to 8 in a month on Ozempic! That's wild! I'm trying to get my blood sugar under control even if I'm not diabetic. Maybe Tirz will do the trick!

Both are the right call. Standard panel covers baseline - lipids, A1C, CMP, thyroid. Starting to lift alongside the medication changes the outcome. Bloodwork shows what changed; workouts determine it changed in the right direction.

Baseline for Tirz is a CMP, lipid panel, HbA1c, and TSH - repeat at 3 months to catch kidney function and liver enzyme changes before they compound.

Standard baseline before tirzepatide: fasting glucose, HbA1c, lipid panel, liver enzymes. Six-month follow-up covers the same markers.

Abdominal pain is the signal to get checked before continuing - bloodwork and a consultation together make more sense than waiting to see if it resolves on its own.

Jano's corrected COA for Tirz 60mg is worth pulling - the QR link is the most current version and takes 30 seconds to verify before dosing.

running baseline labs before starting and then quarterly panels through the first year is the standard that gives you a real before-and-after picture of what the medication is doing. having a pre-start baseline is the piece most people skip and regret when something comes up that they can't contextualize without it.
