Mounjaro stalled. Now what?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
60 lbs on Ozempic and then Mounjaro not matching it is the opposite of the usual experience and worth flagging for the OP. Some people genuinely respond better to sema than to tirz - the dual mechanism is not universally better for everyone. If Mounjaro has stalled for a year at the highest dose, the direction might actually be back to sema rather than pushing higher.

45 pounds on 1mg sema and then a long stall before Mounjaro breaking it open is the pattern that keeps coming up for people who switch mechanisms. Three years at 15mg with a stall is the point where either the dose needs reassessment or a third mechanism makes sense.

Hit the one year mark on this with zero weight loss to show for it. Improved my eating and upped my activity too. Still nothing on the scale. My A1C did get better at least.

Take a look at what you're eating, could be leaning too heavy on greasy or processed options. Try smaller, more frequent meals instead. Cutting soda and coffee could help too.

Wondering if fluid retention might partly explain why progress has been so slow since starting mounjaro roughly eight months back. Had already shed a fair bit of retained fluid back when my blood sugar was badly out of control, then packed some of it back on once insulin got added into the mix about a year ago. Since transitioning onto mounjaro, that regain's stopped climbing, but only about 5-8 lbs of it has actually come back off. Dose got bumped up to 10mg just this past month.

Overweight this entire life. Weighed a huge amount when diagnosed with diabetes. Started this medication at a small amount, titrated all the way up to the highest level. Lost sixty pounds, regained twenty after severe side effects forced a stop, paused for a month, then restarted at a moderate amount before moving up again. Been on it three years total now. Bloodwork's excellent, but weight loss stopped after a year and a quarter. A costly letdown overall. Old lifelong habits just don't disappear that easily. No medication changes that.

Started mounjaro two Julys ago. Worked up to 15mg over about eighteen months. Lost 105 pounds across that stretch. Once I hit my goal weight I dropped down to 7.5mg to maintain, later moved back to a 10mg level and that's mostly where I've remained. I know folks getting by on smaller upkeep doses and others needing more than that. Best bet is working with your doctor to figure out what fits and staying open to adjusting. Beyond the weight, my A1C and cholesterol both improved, haven't had a single migraine, inflammation's way down, and my blood sugar control is tight enough now I can just feel whether I'm high or low without testing. My doctor told me upfront this would likely be lifelong, and I've made peace with that. Stay on top of your labs and pay attention to your body.

For me things crawled to a near-standstill at 10mg and again at 12.5mg. Second month on 15mg now and I've dropped 10 pounds since the bump. Honestly the best advice is just talk it through with your doctor. Mounjaro's been incredible for me overall. My weight journey actually started before Mounjaro, but this medication took it to another level - helped me make a full lifestyle overhaul I'm genuinely thankful for. And since I kicked this off in late January, my A1C went from 11.7 down to 5.7. I'd already made some lifestyle shifts beforehand, but this made sticking to them so much easier. My taste buds are basically different now too. Added a ton of fruit and vegetables into my diet and I can actually taste and smell grease in foods I used to love.

Dealing with the same thing here. Ran Mounjaro for five months last year, dropped a decent amount, but also felt pretty rough from side effects the whole time. Restarted this past May with zero side effects but also zero weight loss so far, worked through 2.5, 5, and just did my first 7.5 mg shot. Pretty deflating not seeing results match last time around. Hoping at least my A1C shows improvement, though seeing the scale move would be nice too.

I'm three months into 2.5mg, staying put. The one reason to climb is returning food noise or missing appetite suppression. Mounjaro won't make you lose, your effort with the tools it provides will. When stalled, check yourself: counting calories? Deficit reasonable rather than extreme (extreme backfires!)? At least 100g protein, 20g+ fibre and enough water daily? And crucially, lifting weights to build lean muscle! Key!!
