Mj and Intermittent Fasting: Protein Q

Kicked off mounjaro back in late March, running intermittent fasting alongside it. Given how much gets said about muscle loss risk with this medication, staying focused on keeping protein solid. Not interested in eating extra unless it's genuinely required for preserving muscle mass. Roughly 25 pounds down since starting in late March and thrilled with how things are progressing, though admittedly haven't started any actual lifting yet, planning to get into that soon. Question for the group: during eating windows, does everyone target a flat protein number, something like 100 grams or tied to current or goal bodyweight, and stop there, or does extra protein get added specifically to compensate for fasting days?

Kept up heavy lifting through the entire process, both losing weight and now maintaining it. Also get a body composition scan roughly twice a year. Even with high protein intake and lifting heavy several times a week, some muscle loss still happened for me. Started with a pretty high baseline of muscle mass though, so that tracked with expectations. Now that I'm in maintenance, I'm actually building it back.

Muscle loss was definitely something I watched closely. Those numbers came from roughly 130 grams of protein daily and lifting three days a week. Fortunately I started with a solid muscle base, otherwise the loss might have been more of an issue. Feeling good about where things stand now, and I've stopped the medication itself. Still keeping up protein intake along with lifting, so some muscle should come back over time, though I'm not chasing numbers obsessively anymore. At this point it's really just about keeping the habits going.

Fasting genuinely works well. Ran intermittent fasting early on with tirz and it made the initial weight drop off easily. Found an 18-hour fast with a six hour eating window suited me best. Word of caution though, keep an eye on muscle loss since that happens fast this way, so personally I think fasting shines in stretches, but eating properly and training hard, I mean five days a week of serious lifting, matters a ton on these medications so you don't end up with that hollowed-out look.
