Mounjaro stalled. Now what?

60 lbs on Ozempic and then Mounjaro not matching it is the opposite of the usual experience and worth flagging for the OP. Some people genuinely respond better to sema than to tirz - the dual mechanism is not universally better for everyone. If Mounjaro has stalled for a year at the highest dose, the direction might actually be back to sema rather than pushing higher.

45 pounds on 1mg sema and then a long stall before Mounjaro breaking it open is the pattern that keeps coming up for people who switch mechanisms. Three years at 15mg with a stall is the point where either the dose needs reassessment or a third mechanism makes sense.

Hit the one year mark on this with zero weight loss to show for it. Improved my eating and upped my activity too. Still nothing on the scale. My A1C did get better at least.

Take a look at what you're eating, could be leaning too heavy on greasy or processed options. Try smaller, more frequent meals instead. Cutting soda and coffee could help too.

Wondering if fluid retention might partly explain why progress has been so slow since starting mounjaro roughly eight months back. Had already shed a fair bit of retained fluid back when my blood sugar was badly out of control, then packed some of it back on once insulin got added into the mix about a year ago. Since transitioning onto mounjaro, that regain's stopped climbing, but only about 5-8 lbs of it has actually come back off. Dose got bumped up to 10mg just this past month.

Overweight this entire life. Weighed a huge amount when diagnosed with diabetes. Started this medication at a small amount, titrated all the way up to the highest level. Lost sixty pounds, regained twenty after severe side effects forced a stop, paused for a month, then restarted at a moderate amount before moving up again. Been on it three years total now. Bloodwork's excellent, but weight loss stopped after a year and a quarter. A costly letdown overall. Old lifelong habits just don't disappear that easily. No medication changes that.
