Some background on me: been running a GLP-1 for about two and a half years now. Still classified in the higher obesity category (terminology's shifted, not totally sure what the current term is). Down 60 pounds so far, though I've plateaued for close to a year.
Never coming off this medication. Even without further weight loss, the benefits elsewhere are just too significant to give up.
A1C's held steady in the fives the whole time. Doing exactly what it's meant to do there.
What genuinely surprised me was the drop in inflammation. Used to have serious pain running through my pelvis and lower spine. Could get around fine, but any day spent heavily on my feet, or bending repeatedly, cleaning or wrangling kids, meant real pain the following days. Getting out of bed hurt daily. All of that vanished within a week or two of starting (essentially right away). Now I can actually MOVE! Doing activities without dreading the next day's payback. Opened up so much more activity for me.
So even though the scale stopped budging like it did that first half year, staying on it regardless.
