Coming off GLP-1s - tips?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Ah, I see... There's always some backstory that doesn't show up right away.

Was on one medication before, and the doctor consistently pushed back on raising the amount while the smaller one kept doing the job. Now starting a different one to tackle remaining stubborn fat, and handling this independently through a provider.

Sometimes it feels like these providers genuinely prioritize their clients more than some general practitioners prioritize their patients. Came away feeling thoroughly briefed on possible reactions and every other detail. And there's zero rigidity around moving the amount up. That decision rests with the person taking it, worked out together with a doctor.

Wishing everyone the very best!

Been running this medication three to four years now. Started at 1mg specifically for A1C management. Everything was going great. Dropped from 215 down to around 171-172. Couldn't push lower, but A1C stayed solid, hovering around 6.1-6.2. Took a trip to the coast to see relatives and ended up genuinely unwell. My parents are in their nineties, and every dish comes out cooked to complete mush. Attempted handling the cooking and grocery runs myself, but that household has its own particular rhythm you'd need to witness firsthand. Dropped to 162 during that stretch. Once home, started a fairly potent probiotic regimen, and most of the digestive trouble resolved. Weight started creeping back up though, so I dropped the probiotics. From that point it just seemed like the medication stopped working entirely. Weight's climbed to 180 and A1C's back up to 6.6. Doctor bumped my dose to 2mg. Only three weeks in, haven't noticed real change yet. Follow-up scheduled in three months though. So yes, it genuinely can stop working over time. Meanwhile working on tightening up my food choices since things had really gotten off track.
