5mg Mounjaro to 10mg?

Started mounjaro alongside a diet three and a half weeks ago at a heavier starting weight, already down significantly. This has been fantastic so far, zero side effects. Felt great the whole time, energy levels haven't been this good in years. Doctor appointment tomorrow to check progress and get next month's prescription. Thinking about asking to jump straight to the higher dose. Has anyone gone from the lower starting dose straight to double that? If so, how'd that go? Thanks in advance.

Those starting from a heavier weight tend to see faster initial results compared to people already closer to a lower body weight. Naturally the rate tapers off over time. Just as a rough example, the following month and a half might bring another significant drop, though there's no guarantee of exact numbers.

Good call! You could also bump the dose to 8.75 instead of jumping straight to 10. Just grab a Mounjaro click calculator to figure it out. Good luck!

Not really chasing faster loss to be honest, happy enough if it stays at this pace. Read somewhere that dosing typically starts low and climbs monthly. Where I live 7.5mg and 10mg cost the same, so wasn't sure whether to go straight to 10 instead of 7.5. Felt great on 5mg right away so I've been wondering if jumping to 10 makes sense. Seeing the doctor tomorrow, though he might just tell me to stay put.

Some of us did better at other Mounjaro doses. Many move up when food noise returns or the scale stalls, if we are talking purely about weight loss. Stepping to 10 mg could be your answer at this point, though eventually you might need the next step. Use this tool alongside your other habits to keep your success.

A sudden cardiac event started this for me, and at the same visit doctors found T2D plus fatty liver among other things. My doctor felt Mounjaro could help on top of the usual treatment. Since 2.5mg gave me nothing bad including alongside my remaining prescriptions, she opted to go higher and be aggressive if I tolerated it. The one time I felt anything was the step to 5mg, but I kept losing, and with my eating and lifestyle overhaul I stayed ahead of it. My charts show a much faster drop than the trial and peer numbers. Since then my doctor and I have been content at 5mg because the weight keeps dropping, my blood pressure fell under 120/80 and labs improved. Some of my other prescriptions are now at half dose.

Think of 2.5 as a warm-up so your system can adjust. Sundays are my shot day, simpler to remember. It sounds to me like youre ready to go up. Just tell your doctor youre ready. Currently 7.5 mg Mounjaro here, 30 lbs gone. The next refill should bump me to 10 mg. Nearly every refill has meant a higher dose, and I repeated only the 2.5 and the 5 mg. From what I gather, folks lose more the closer they get to the top dose. Good luck

Remain on 2.5 for four weeks minimum and see how the side effects go. Some people start even lower, though I am unsure whether quick pens permit it. Go slow with increases. As others said, it is not at peak level in your bloodstream until around the fourth dose, so don't jump up weeks early. NEVER STEP UP AUTOMATICALLY AT THE 4 WEEK MARK. Sorry to shout, but certain patients and/or drs keep raising the dose every four weeks straight to 15mg. Watch how much you lose weekly and/or how labs improve, and ask yourself before increasing, is this my desired spot or do I need extra medicine? No matter what your reason for being on Mounjaro, settle on the smallest dose that works and keep it. I haven't gone past 5mg in 10 months, dropped 50lbs, 15 to go, great A1c, glucose and other bloodwork.
