It looks like Eli Lilly is suing Empower Pharmacy to try and limit access to compounded medications. Empower argues that restricting access isn't in the patient's best interest.

Accreditation from PCAB and registration with the FDA as an outsourcing facility are good signs. PCAB means they follow USP 797 standards, and FDA registration means they're supposed to follow similar manufacturing rules as big pharma.

Compounding pharmacies have a history of issues. Remember the NECC disaster? Contaminated drugs caused serious harm and even death. You'd think they would learn!

Just remember that whatever you use, sterile technique is the most important thing. Clean everything thoroughly.

I have never either. Never.

It's mostly a U.S. thing. Many countries use sterile water or saline (single-use vials) to avoid contamination. It's not that everyone else is wrong, but the U.S. can be excessive. If they do alright with just sterile water, it says something.
