Weight Comes Back After Stopping GLP-1s?

I'm not shocked, isn't the success rate for typical weight loss super low? I've regained 40+ lbs so many times. I don't plan on stopping these meds, every time I gained, I couldn't control it. There is something up with my body.

    Pics say it all!

I had a patient tell me about losing 50 lbs and realizing how much mindless eating and drinking she was doing before! It's eye-opening.

Weight Comes Back After Stopping GLP-1s?

Doesn't that happen with all weight loss approaches?

    Down 121 lbs... whew!

That's a good question . I'm wondering the same thing. I'm focused on the medication right now, but I know I'll need to add in exercise at some point. My rheumatoid arthritis is awful right now, so walking is about all I can manage some days.

    Shirt fits again! Crazy difference.

Had to zoom in - at first glance, it looked like two different people. Amazing work!! Seriously impressive! I bet you are feeling great! I lost about 45lbs recently, and it was eye-opening just how heavy that weight feels in the course of daily chores. I’m so grateful for access to these drugs...

    40 and feeling FAB!

It can be! Everyone's different. 30 lbs in 4 months is a great start, but don't get discouraged if it slows down. Consistency is key! Hydrate!

    40 and feeling FAB!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! PlateauPro I'm finding 1mg is my sweet spot right now. I felt pretty crummy on 1.5mg, so I dialed it back down. I'm losing slower, but feeling way better!

    Ozempic: for the wealthy?

This is truly depressing. Obesity and socioeconomic status are heavily linked. I'm in healthcare revenue, and about half our patients are on Medicare or Medicaid. Covering Ozempic would save them crazy amounts on comorbidity expenses. But, apparently, they want you sick and broke.

    40 and feeling FAB!

Okay, so, pic 1 is me at my heaviest, about 225 lbs and a size 18 back in '16 when I was only 5'2". I've been up and down my whole adult life. Got down to 170 in 2019, but it crept back on. Then I hit 185 in 2021, had a baby and BOOM, back to 220. The 2nd pic (ignore the smudges, toddler life!)...

    Two Years, A New Me!

Huge difference! It's clear that your daughter needs to lose weight as well. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, and childhood obesity can have long-term consequences. It's a difficult position, but you should seek some guidance from a pediatrician with expertise in nutrition. I wish...

    Ozempic: for the wealthy?

So, they'll cover cardiac issues, heart attacks, bypasses, insulin, amputations from diabetes, strokes, and kidney failure...but not the thing that prevents it all? Makes total sense (not).

    Cycling on & off GLP-1s - safe?

I agree with VialStory, it's a common misconception that more is better. Medical golden rule is lowest effective dose. if the lowest is working, stick with it!

    Cycling on & off GLP-1s - safe?

I don't think cycling on and off Glp-1s is a good idea. Some studies show that yo-yo dieting (weight cycling) can increase the risks of type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, high blood pressure, and make it harder to lose weight later. And you might not get the same results you had the first...
