    Down 120, 10 more!

120 down and 10 to go - you're in the closing stretch. The paint metaphor is exactly right. People who haven't carried that kind of weight don't have a frame of reference for what it actually does to the body every day. Ten more pounds and then the whole maintenance chapter starts. What does the...

Tirzepatide - when does it actually work?

Two weeks at 2.5 is still early - most people don't notice real suppression until week 3-5. The starting dose is primarily for tolerability, not effect. Give it to week 4-6 before drawing conclusions. If it's still flat by the time you're at 5mg, that's worth raising.

Is it just ME...or do I still feel fat?

The disconnect between what the body is and what the brain thinks it is - that doesn't resolve when the scale moves. The brain takes months to catch up. It's a real lag that happens to most people who've lost significant weight. Not a pep talk, just the reality.

Mounjaro side effects got too bad 😭

I'd stop the peppermint oil. Sometimes those things can make GI issues worse.

Mounjaro side effects got too bad 😭

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. Have you considered trying a different medication? Some have also mentioned dose splitting. They're injecting their dose multiple times per week (splitting it into 2 or more smaller doses). I do dose splitting because I had extreme GI side effects. I...

    Staying on GLP-1 meds forever?

I've seen some people have success with diet and exercise after being on the medication for a while, but it's rare. Most of the time, the weight comes back. It's important to have realistic expectations and understand the science behind these medications. If your body doesn't produce enough of a...

    Staying on GLP-1 meds forever?

That's how I saw it from the start. I started semaglutide knowing it was a long-term thing, like my blood pressure meds. I'm surprised how many people think it's a short-term fix and then act shocked when the weight comes back. It's pretty clear this isn't a band-aid solution. All those people...

Just started Oz... is this normal?

Sounds normal to me... I started in Sept '25 and didn't notice appetite suppression until I reached 1mg. But since then, it's been great. Reduced my fasting blood sugar from 140-160 to consistently below 90 and lost about 65lbs. I was taking 1700mg metformin and gliclazide but now I am only on...

    Taco Bell... the great regulator?

Just be aware that stomach issues might not always be related to the medication. I had some pretty bad stomach issues about a month ago, and it ended up being a virus. Bad pastries and brownies are no bueno! The symptoms were similar. When in doubt, check your temperature. Might not be the sema...

    Injections hurting more now?

Try holding an ice cube on the spot for a minute before you inject. Should help numb it.

    GLP-1s and Food Waste? Tips?

I've heard a lot of people say that protein intake is super important when you're on these medications. So, I try to get at least 1.2g of protein per kilogram of my ideal body weight every day. If I hit my protein goal, I don't stress too much about calories.

    GLP-1s: Beyond the Scale?

I've noticed a cool non-scale victory – my belly no longer touches the steering wheel when I drive! Small wins are still wins!

    Injections hurting more now?

I've been on Mounjaro for over a year, currently on 5mg after going down from 7.5mg. I always inject into my thigh and barely feel it at all. I also inject testosterone, which is a bit more painful because it's thicker and uses a larger needle. Wish there was a pen for that!

    GLP-1s: Beyond the Scale?

Hello! Another long-time reader here. Your post stood out from many others. Before starting a couple of months ago, I was unaware 'food noise' was even a thing. Losing it has been a huge relief. I can now see how much unnecessary food I consumed without even thinking. Thanks for sharing this...

    GLP-1s and Food Waste? Tips?

I buy frozen dinners. Usually the Lean Cuisine ones. I can usually finish those. When I eat out, I can barely eat half of my meal.

    Week 1 on GLP-1 - anyone else?

As a physician, I see the health impact of excess weight every day. People who say taking Ozempic or getting weight loss surgery is 'cheating' are missing the point. It's about empowering yourself to improve your health.
