GLP-1: Keep it secret?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
whole life i didn't need a bra. got fat, got boobs, lost more than half the weight. now they're relaxed. my husband loved me then loves me now, doesn't care if they're perky or not. i just want them healthy

Peppermints for nausea is legitimate - menthol interrupts the reflex similarly to ginger. The pregnancy morning sickness overlap with GLP-1 nausea is real.

The impulse to keep it separate from judgment is understandable at every level - the medical use and the eating behaviors both carry social weight that most people aren't equipped to respond to well. GLP-1s tend to reduce the shame-eating impulse over time, which shifts this dynamic naturally.

Nobody at work knowing is probably the safest default given how unpredictable the reactions are. The judgment from colleagues tends to range from dismissive to actively hostile and neither version is useful. Keeping it between the people who actually support the goal is a legitimate choice and not something that requires explaining. How long have you been on it now and how's the result so far?

Appreciate that!
Honestly finds it strange when public figures stay silent about getting help from a GLP1. This isn't just skipping snacks after all!
Feels like something worth admitting openly.
Still tough some days, but doable for me.

If keeping it private is the choice, that's completely personal business. Where it crosses into disingenuous territory is when people get asked directly and that detail, being on a GLP-1, conveniently gets left out. Fact is, people are going to be people about it. Told for years to lose weight, then the second real progress happens, suddenly it's dismissed as a shortcut.

Genuinely proud of taking control of health here.

Same story here. My BMI sits at 27 but I went ahead with glp anyway since hitting perimenopause I've packed on 20 pounds, and despite trying everything, nothing's shifting, and I'm feeling worse overall, it's more than the self-consciousness, genuinely worried insulin resistance is creeping in too. My hips and shoulder ache pretty much nonstop and I just feel generally worse than I'd like.

My spouse and one of my kids are aware (not sure if she's told her siblings). She stumbled onto extra needles in a drawer and asked about them. When I explained, she just said something like 'makes sense, that's exactly what it's meant for, you've worked hard and been struggling alone,' and honestly that meant a lot. Still hesitant to tell the rest of them though, don't want them assuming I took a shortcut, and definitely don't want them thinking it's a fallback option down the line (I eat quite well but don't lecture my kids about it, they understand nutrition fine and I'm not going to make them feel guilty over the occasional cookie or ice cream).

As for everyone else, they don't get told, none of their business honestly, and outside my spouse and kids I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks!!!
