Mounjaro - Hunger coming back?

Started Mounjaro last Friday and it was amazing until yesterday. I'm feeling hunger and cravings again, not as strong, but definitely there. Has anyone else felt this in their first week? Does it improve with more doses?

It levels out. The med has a half-life of about 5 days, so the next dose builds on the previous one.

It gets better after about a month. They suggest staying on each dose for a full month to reach the correct level.

Your body is getting used to the medication. You'll probably see the effect ramp up around 5 mg. Make sure you drink enough water, eat healthy food, and deal with any constipation. The side effects can be tough.

Down 80 lbs, maintaining for 2 years.

I'm on my 3rd 2.5mg dose. I felt hungry on day 5 after the first shot. On week 2, it was day 6. This is Saturday, day 6 after shot 3, and I'm still not hungry... yet.

Yesterday and today I was a bit hungry, but not crazy. Before, hunger felt like a runaway train, now it's just a gentle pull. I used to be in a crazy fever dream.

I can eat 1800-2000 calories of healthy food and feel good. I get what 'I COULD eat' means. I could eat, but I don't need to.

The first week was the strongest for me, I struggled to eat enough. Week 2 was less intense. I'm on week 5 now - shot on Saturday, reduced appetite until Tuesday, then it comes back a bit from Wednesday, but less than before. I'm still losing weight and managing cravings, so I'm staying on 2.5 for another month. We'll see how it goes.

Around day 5-7 after the first shot, the drug level drops to below 1 mg, maybe 0.6. That's why you feel hunger, cravings, or even a mild headache if you don't eat enough protein or fiber. But it usually gets better by week 3, from my experience.

That's why I moved up doses fast. I still had food noise and wasn't losing weight for a while. I also struggled with body image; inches come off before pounds, which can be tough. But it gets better, you will see results! Be patient and kind to yourself.

If the shot isn't doing what it should, go up a dose! Give it at least 4 shots, a month apart, to see how you feel and let it get into your system while managing any side effects. If your body reacts badly, you can always go back to the previous dose, but don't be afraid of progress.

I've gone past my goal and every doctor's expectation! I'm on shot 51 and the highest dose. I've dropped 210 lbs in almost 2 years. I'm 5'6", 61 years old, and so grateful. I look and feel better than ever! 🤣🤣🤣

Totally normal!
I'm on my 7th dose of 2.5mg.

I thought I wasn't working if I felt hunger, but that's wrong.
You should have normal hunger and eat a normal amount of healthy food.

The Fat Science podcast has taught me the most so far. It's a lot to learn when you start.

It's normal. The drug has a half-life of five days. With 2.5, I wasn't hungry for all five days and had to force myself to eat. I injected on Fridays to avoid weekend binges. Now (after 9 months), I get full fast and eat much smaller portions. I'm at 5 mg (since month two).

Drink lots of water (500 ml with electrolytes - Liquid IV is good). Take a multivitamin and have protein snacks if you're hungry. Eat a varied diet and do strength training for muscle mass.

I'm not even 72 hours after the first dose and I feel I'm back to normal. It's still early and it hasn't built up in my system, and 2.5 isn't therapeutic, but I secretly hoped I wouldn't have to really struggle after the first 48 hours seemed so promising!

2.5 isn't a therapeutic dose, and you don't have any stored in your system yet. Keep your expectations realistic.

I had my first injection yesterday, so this info is perfect timing. I wonder what to expect with the food noise. I know everyone is different.

For me, the food noise got quieter within a few days. Not gone, but it felt like a normal hunger signal instead of constant thinking about food.

I'm on week six now. For me, I had the biggest appetite suppression during the first week. It may have been mental. Now I can eat what I want, but it is never too much to gain weight. I was explaining it recently to a nurse during a checkup.
I feel that! I lost weight pretty slowly, but it is still moving in the right direction. I don't really diet at all... I eat what I crave, whenever I want. But the cravings are weaker now, and I can stop after a few bites.

I do my shot on Thursdays. By Saturday, that food noise is almost gone. It starts to come back around Tuesday evening.

After getting burned once and then getting some leftover supply from my MIL, I'm diving back into the research. Did I miss anything cool lately?
