GLP-1s + weightlifting = 💪?

The diet and exercise foundation already in place before adding Reta is exactly the setup that tends to make the combination work well. You have the hardest part covered.

Yeah the gym motivation thing is real on tirz - I felt the same shift. Part of it is the energy, part of it is just feeling like it's worth doing now that you can see the changes. Still got weight to lose but the gym has gone from something I dread to something I actually want to do.

Incredible results! Share the specifics whenever you get a chance, compounds used, protein and carb ratios, workout routine, all of it. Seriously impressive work!

Want the tough-love pep talk or the warm fuzzy one? Personally I'm all about the harsh version, lol.

What are you doing with yourself?! Hit the gym already. Eat properly. This attitude isn't getting you anywhere, LOCK IN.

or...

Keep going! Plateaus and rough patches are part of the deal. You've got this!

Which style actually works for you?

Too long, didn't read version below anyway.
Week four, day one update.
Barely any sting, probably since it landed in the glute this time. Sleep though was outstanding.
Also noticed gym improvements, recovery's much faster and hit a few personal records.
Body composition's improving too, visible reduction around the waist now.

Great thread, congrats to you. Coming up on eight weeks myself here. One word of caution though. My biggest piece of advice for anyone doing this class of medication: stay hydrated. Keep your amount conservative. Aim for no more than three pounds weekly. Hit your protein targets. And to me, the single most important part is strength training, at minimum twice weekly. Personally doing four days. All that said, none of this is actually easy if you're doing it right. It's a genuine daily grind keeping up with everything. But everyone's approach differs. Getting in real shape was never going to be simple. There's zero chance I end up as some frail, bony version of myself. Not happening.

If it's really 'just a tool,' then it's swappable for any other tool and never actually necessary. By that logic you could also walk from LA to New York instead of flying. Might as well look for a cross-country hiking forum instead of one built around this drug class.

We've gone in circles on this exact tool debate with plenty of gym-culture regulars on this forum already, it's honestly gotten old. The general pushback tends to be that this drug class helps with weight loss but won't hand you the physique or lasting results people actually want on its own, since losing weight and building muscle aren't the same thing, and appetite suppression plus slower digestion only gets you part of the way there.

Climbing up on my soapbox for a second here.

Feels like half the posts lately are chasing some kind of shortcut. Just putting in the actual work covers the vast majority of the answer, every time. Want visible abs, drop body fat. Want muscle, eat enough protein and lift heavy things repeatedly. Peptides aren't magic wands that grant wishes, that's a different category of substance entirely.

So what do peptides actually accomplish? The GLP class genuinely makes the biological side of weight loss far more manageable, but a deficit still has to happen, it can seem like sorcery but really isn't. Beyond that class, we're mostly talking about modest effects, if any at all in certain cases, usually touching things like recovery speed or inflammation levels. Generally it's the type of benefit that only shows up once you've already nailed the fundamentals, maybe adding a small edge on top.

I'm not knocking peptides overall, obviously I'm here using them, but outside GLPs I think of them as fine-tuning tools. Something you reach for once you've already covered the bulk of what's achievable and you're chasing that last small margin.

Rant over.

6'2" at 330 starting, now down to 270. Running 20mg of the third compound. Finally figured out exactly why I plateaued. Comes down entirely to calorie deficit. Weights and cardio matter for your overall health. That's a separate thing from dropping pounds. Actually muddies the picture if you mix them up. Realized this a few weeks back myself. That whole 'everybody reacts differently' line just adds noise too. Whatever compound you're running adds to the noise as well. It's all right here on this board, take it or leave it.

Totally get that mental hurdle. My situation right now is past overweight but short of average or genuinely lean, so my old targets don't really apply anymore and need resetting. Get anxious anytime I go past the 1400 mark.

Tried a GLP-1 last summer but stopped after a few months once my lifting numbers started tanking. Been way more consistent this round since I've put real effort into getting back in shape. Was genuinely fit in my late teens and early twenties, then let it slide and had to rebuild from scratch a few years back.
