Slow & Steady Wins the Race?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Yes, been at a small dose for close to two months, and the number keeps dropping steadily. No plans to move up. If it's working, why change anything? Makes tapering off easier and cheaper down the line too.

Welcome to the plateau club. Been parked here a while... 87 pounds down. Held steady there for two or three months with minor fluctuation. Currently at 7.5mg.

Just crossed into 92 pounds down as of this morning. Recommitted to watching my intake, upped my activity level, and expect another stall before the next drop happens.

Happy with the progress overall. What caught me off guard was how many people noticed changes over these past three months despite the scale staying frozen. Assumed I was still actively losing.

Turns out my clothes started fitting noticeably better, some pieces now too loose, all while the number on the scale never moved.

Wish I'd taken body measurements from the start, suspect there's been some real reshaping and muscle gain happening too.

Wouldn't stress over it. Took a long time putting that weight on in the first place. Stay the course. Keep your doctor looped in.

Worth double-checking your calories in versus calories out too. Make sure your baseline burn rate hasn't dropped below wherever your current eating pattern has settled.

Agreed, stick with 2.5 if the weight's still coming off. My insurance though would only cover a 30-day supply at that amount, so bumping up became the only real option available. Turned out to be a good change for me, definitely felt the extra kick, makes sense since it's basically double the dose. My doctor cautioned me about climbing too fast out of concern for maxing out too quickly. Sitting at 10 now after stalling on 7.5, but again only after really talking it through carefully with him first. Glad I took his advice instead of rushing. Good luck!

Lost a good amount the old-fashioned way before and mostly kept it off the same way too, back before metabolism took a hit, and the pace happening now on the wegovy tablet actually lines up closely with that earlier healthy rate from diet and exercise alone. Roughly two pounds weekly, occasionally closer to one.

Anyway, it really comes down to personal choice. Pushing hard and dropping weight too fast can mean losing hair from essentially starving the body whenever nausea makes eating unpleasant. Or, figure out what actually manages the nausea and track calories to stay properly fed.

Folks losing fifteen to twenty pounds monthly usually started from a much higher weight, so it naturally comes off faster, and they're often brand new to any kind of diet structure, which means self-control slips more easily.

This is entirely doable. Just stay on top of protein and vitamins. A multivitamin made for people on this drug class helps avoid any nutrient gaps. Highly recommend.

Thanks for this post! My weight sat at 206 for nearly 9 months, then I lost 3 lbs & that seems to be where my body just wants to be. I've been just on 12.5 mg, dropped to 10 mg because I wasn't eating enough and felt fatigued, then went back to 12.5 mg several months ago & the scale won't budge. I hit 198 for just one day then jumped to 203, and that's where I yo-yo. I've T2D, PCOS, IR, CKD & iron deficiency anemia, & I find that when my iron drops just the scale stops. I need regular iron infusions, & in the 8-12 weeks when everything's balanced before levels start falling, I pack in as much as I can. I'm currently taking 12.5 mg each 156 hours (six and a half days) ahead of titrating to 15 mg, hoping to start it once I get my infusion, just for the just last push to 135-145.

Worth remembering that we hear the extreme stories more than the typical ones. You are tracking well on rate of loss, and as others said, no rate is the correct one. Health and life matter more. Lots of us are in it for the long haul. We all hope to be super responders who drop everything within 6 months on a tiny dose. It does happen, but it is not the norm, and media amplifies it. Most of us quietly lose moderate amounts weekly and move on. I lost 29.55kg over 17 months and I am 1.75kg short of my own target. It took longer than I hoped, but I transformed how I live and look, and my health, in ways I doubt I could without MJ. Seeing myself change only happened after roughly 20kg was gone. Our brains lag behind for ages.

Haha, true, nobody can guess the method, since we all react differently. Shedding 70 pounds with this drug actually took me longer than doing it without meds years back. I lift weights too, so I've got much more muscle. I likely resemble someone who did it unassisted, but both paths are 'natural', as both follow the calories math, only the route differs. I still track calories, exercise and stay patient.

Guess I'm an outlier. As soon as the loss slowed I changed my workouts and food intake, and if it felt like white knuckling, I raised the dose in tiny steps. Still sitting between the 2nd and 3rd smallest doses. Nearly half my body weight, 42%, is gone so far.

You're only in week one of 12.5, and a new dose takes time. Eight kg gone across 6 months for me, which is slower than most, yet I'm really happy because I couldn't lose that 8kg before. My pace has been slower and steadier. Dropping during month one and then absolutely nothing is odd. Lower doses might not do it for some, but I'd expect 4 weeks on 10 to. Bodies can be strange though, maybe 12.5 needs a couple of weeks. If not, then you might simply not respond, which stinks :( Then maintenance use is possible, or you explore alternatives (a combo with something else, or a different drug entirely).
