4mm or 8mm needle? Doc's got me questioning!

Not a fan of the shortest needle length, tends to cause more injection-site reactions for me.
Anything on the shorter end runs risky for adults carrying a bit of extra padding. Without going in perfectly straight, you'll end up injecting into skin layers rather than the intended depth.
 
My first months were on a Mounjaro pen, then I moved to vials and several peps, and recently went back to pens for daily low volume pins. Getting cartridges and loading them is a bit more hassle, but afterwards it is far more convenient. Bonus for injection-sensitive people: a tiny pen needle of 4 or 5mm is barely felt. Usually I feel nothing at all.
 
Worth noting, the 4mm needles feel a little short to me for peps that burn, like the blends and Mots-c. A 6mm seems to reach below the layer that gets irritated most by them. Your mileage may vary.
 
Exactly. Ive read the deeper you go subcutaneously, the less it hurts. The earliest shots I took were awful, like an airsoft pellet hit me. Thinning it out more, to 100mg in 6ml, changed nothing. Then I found a few spots where it doesnt hurt and I just pin there. Ill try some 6mm needles once these 8s run out.
 
4mm works, but skip the pinch and go in at 90 degrees. With 8mm, inject at 45 degrees and pinch. Longer than that needs a shallow angle, or you will hit muscle. I changed needles after a shot that I am fairly sure landed in muscle and bruised badly. All of them are pretty painless.
