Alcohol Has No Affect On me - Is this common?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Been a year now since starting mounjaro and decided to actually test how drinking affects me these days. Held off at first since I'd read about upset stomachs, nausea, diarrhea, or brutal hangovers from others, plus personally I'd rather spend extra calories on food since cravings for it vanished entirely anyway. Been meeting friends more often lately for happy hour and they keep asking why I won't even try a single cocktail. Finally caved and had one with a solid pour of vodka in it recently and felt absolutely nothing whatsoever. No negative reaction, but zero pleasant buzz either. Totally wasted spending on that. Wondering how common this actually is. Do certain types hit differently than others? Is this a permanent shift? Guess my personality just needs some adjusting since loosening up and getting social after a couple rounds isn't really happening anymore.

It's safe, but your relationship with drinking is going to shift. Used to drink heavily myself and now even two drinks is more than my stomach can handle. Cravings have basically vanished too. Eight months sober at this point!

More common in some people than others, but generally there's a drop in inflammation that shows up as water weight coming off in those first weeks or months. I'd guess a good chunk of it is that, assuming you're eating enough overall.

Alcohol tolerance basically vanished overnight after the swap from mounjaro over to sema. Had one whiskey on the rocks roughly a month into the change and ended up parked in front of the toilet for hours, zero exaggeration there. Nowadays even a single drink triggers a genuinely awful next-day hangover, almost like the body forgot the entire process of handling alcohol. Turns out avoiding it altogether is just easier, the medication already kills the craving so there's no willpower battle happening. Lately a dressed-up ginger ale over ice does the job of keeping the ritual going, minus the awful aftermath.
