Appetite back on higher dose?

Hey everyone, I just went up a dose level and my hunger is definitely back. The food cravings are creeping back in a little bit too. Hoping this isn't permanent. Still shedding pounds though, thankfully. Anyone else experience this?

Okay, good to know someone else is going through this. I started the 1.0 dose a few days ago and OMG I'm starving. It's like I never even started the medication, the food noise is back to where it was before.

This totally happened to me when I was on Ozempic. Every time I went up a dose, the food cravings hit hard for a couple of weeks before leveling out. My doctor said it's pretty common while you adjust to each increase.

I eventually switched to tirzepatide for other reasons, but those appetite swings with dose changes were definitely real. Give it two or three weeks before you worry too much – bodies react in all sorts of weird ways to changes.

I stop ozempic a week before my IV sedation procedures every 6 weeks. My appetite doesn't return until around day 12-13 after stopping. Try skipping your next dose and tracking when the hunger comes back.

I've been taking Semaglutide since spring of 2024. I had similar changes at different doses as I worked my way up to the highest dose. My hunger and thoughts about food went up with one increase and then down with the next. At the highest dose, things evened out.

The time after my first dose at the lowest level and before I got to 1.0, my food noise and appetite both came back. Ever since I've been on 1.0, the cravings are much less and my appetite is way smaller.

It's also possible the medication itself isn't great. I switched pharmacies recently and the stuff I'm getting now is basically useless. I'm on a high dose and can barely tell I took anything. I'm looking for a different provider and pharmacy ASAP.

I’m experiencing the same thing right now. I’m close to my target weight though. I haven’t gained any weight, but I'm hungrier. My doctor said it’s to be expected and that I need to eat, otherwise I will impact my metabolism.

Thanks for all the input, everyone! I'm going to stick it out for a few weeks and see if things even out. If not, I'll talk to my doctor about adjusting the plan.

Exactly!!! My appetite vanished on the starting dose. I went to .50 and now I'm always hungry. It's so annoying, and I'm wondering if I should have stayed at the starter dose longer than a month.

I've heard that some people do really well on a lower dose long-term. If it was working, maybe going back down would be a good idea?

I can't explain to you how horrible my food noise used to be. Years of constant obsession with eating. This med really helped.

Seriously! I keep wondering how other people just...aren't hungry all the time? I feel like I've been starving my entire life.

There's a lot of emerging research that GLP-1 agonists don't just affect appetite, but also have a major impact on emotional regulation and mental health. Some studies are showing a connection between stress/PTSD and overeating, due to the endocrine system and stress hormones.
