Backsliding on cravings on Tirz?

So, I'm cruising at 5mg and loving the ride – lost a bunch of weight, eating way healthier, my energy is through the roof. Kicked my nail-biting and even ditched the weed and D8. But here's the weird thing: I'm getting the urge to light up a cigarette again.

I quit smoking like six years ago, cold turkey. Used to smoke a pack a day, then just got fed up, tossed my cigs, and never looked back. Didn't even flinch around other smokers. Now, being on tirz, the craving is creeping back in. Every day it's like, gotta resist the urge to hit the store for a pack. Seriously thinking about wishing I could just buy singles instead of a whole pack. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is it the tirz messing with me, or is my body just screaming for something since I'm not getting those food-based dopamine hits anymore?

It hasn't really changed my desire to smoke weed, although I've decreased overall 'cause I don't want the munchies - getting hungry when you're already stuffed is no fun, haha.

However, a friend stopped smoking cigarettes and vaping instantly when he started tirz, so it looks like a lot is different for everyone.

Maybe it's just a swap of habits. Giving up one bad thing (eating too much) and replacing it with another (smoking).

I seem to be more aware of smells on Tirz. Could be because my mouth isn't a trash can anymore, but cigarettes smell more tempting lately. Or, maybe it's just my hands being bored since I'm not constantly shoveling food in. I remember that being an issue when I first quit smoking.

Yup, that's what I'm thinking too. But based on what I'm seeing here and in other GLP1 groups, something seems to be happening that's affecting our habits. Someone else mentioned their skin picking habit went away after starting Tirz. I also have that issue, but it hasn't changed yet.

I'm experiencing the same thing with cigarette smoke. My neighbors smoke on their porch, and it used to gross me out. Now I'm just thinking, "Man, I could use a puff of that" 😭 Trying to stay strong, 'cause I really don't need it.

OMG I thought I was losing it! I've noticed the exact same thing. Super aware of smells everywhere, wondering if my car is about to burst into flames, or what cologne that guy at the gym is wearing, or why every building I'm visiting suddenly smells like artificial air freshener or weird food.

That makes total sense – the good feelings/brain chemicals you got from food are now less active and looking for something to latch onto to give you that 'hit.'

I've spent way too much time online window shopping for stuff I don't even need (thankfully), become even more attached to my phone, and realized I might be hyper-focusing on something new and not so great.

You might want to look into: low-dose naltrexone, breathwork (could mimic some of the effects of smoking), or maybe 9me-bc?

Yep... I'm thinking about encouraging my friend to smoke in my car. Haven't given in yet, but it feels like I fight off one craving and another just pops up.

I hear ya @Tirz-Dad. I quit drinking daily when I started on ozempic. I used to have like, three to five drinks every night and for some reason the hangovers were BRUTAL. Now I can barely eat a single freakin' meal a day. It's like a mission to climb Everest to even eat a granola bar. It's probably good, lost like 25 pounds, but damn, I miss grubbing.

Sounds like you might need to start 'mechanical eating,' which means setting specific times each day to eat a certain number of calories. It sucks but keeps you on track for a healthy calorie goal each day.

I totally get it @HeartPizza530 - Addiction is hard. I miss emotional eating sometimes. I just want to dive headfirst into a massive cheat meal, but this stuff makes it impossible, which is great and sad all at once.

I'm trying to be kinder to myself. We're all doing great!

If you can manage it, try to get those calories from whole food protein sources. But if you can't stomach food, I find Isopure Clear Protein helpful. It's thin like water, so you don't feel like you're forcing down a thick shake.

for tirz users what's been your biggest side effect? gain or loss of sweet cravings? stopped liking certain foods? other stuff? would be amazing if i could eat my licorice bags and still drop weight lol.

been intermittent fasting for 5 years and felt good but weight and a1c didn't budge much. early 50s, tracked a1c for years due to family history and it crept to 6.1%. started zepbound a few months back, didn't change my diet at all, but my latest came back at 5.2%. also started hrt around then so hard to say what did what.

doc told me to pause for two weeks before my colonoscopy and endoscopy, so i'll be off after five months straight. what happens when you stop? do i start craving everything in a day or does it take a week? just wondering what to expect for those two weeks before starting back up.
