Brain ain't catchin' up! Help!

Okay, so back in '21 I had a sleeve at like, 244lbs. This mornin', I'm down to 120! I'm way past my goal for weight loss, super stoked about that.

But... even though pics are like, BAM, huge change, lookin' in the mirror? I still feel huge, like I'm wearin' clothes 2 sizes too small. Like, I'm a size 6 (UK sizing) now?! What?!

Thought it'd be better almost 4 years post-op, but it's worse since addin' semaglutide weight loss.

Any pointers on gettin' my head to realize what's goin' on?

(Lost ~100lbs with the sleeve, gained back 20ish over 2 yrs, then lost 44lbs since last summer on the medication)

Thanks for posting! Just a friendly reminder that we don't allow discussion of non-approved versions of semaglutide, or sales of any meds. Don't ask for or respond to DMs offering that, they're not endorsed here.

If you're new, check the FAQ. This is just to help, not to shut down chat.

It could take years for your brain to believe reality. Photos for comparison, wearin' clothes that fit right, and just be patient with yourself. Time will help, I hope.

Seriously, lookin' at those pics, I don't think it's the same person! That's awesome progress!

You're totally thin, no matter how you feel. Everyone sees a skinny, beautiful lady. Congrats!

Keep some of your old clothes around. Try 'em on, see how they fit now. Even better if they're faves, so you remember how they felt. Proof for yourself!

I get that. I'm kinda the opposite. I think I'm still in shape, but I've stacked on 30+ pounds on my 5'2 frame since COVID. Body image and reality clashin' sucks. My body changed 'cause my habits did, and it's been years now, but I'm tryin' to claw my way back to who I thought I was before I get used to the new me.

No advice, just can relate.

Congrats!

I think you can totally turn things around for yourself. Therapy might be a path forward. A boudoir photoshoot with hair and makeup done could help you see your beauty. It's something tangible, not just how you are feeling at the moment.

Your brain probably knows you have gotten to goal. But years of thinking about weight all the time are hard to undo. But you know it is body dysmorphia.

Pick a couple things you like in the mirror every day to focus on. And one thing that is not visible on the outside because that is more important. When you get those negative thoughts, try and redirect to something you love about yourself instead.

You look amazing. I like what you wear, and you appear approachable. You worked so hard to get here, and I really hope your eyes can see the new you soon. ❤️

Dang, amazing results. But yeah, gotta agree with the others, therapy is probably the best thing for you at this stage. Congrats on the weight loss!

I'm the flip side of this. Gained weight, and people treated me TERRIBLY, but I didn't even notice till I saw a pic and thought "who's that?" 😳. People ask if I feel different now, and honestly? NOPE. Still can't believe I looked so different unless I side-by-side pics. Still feel the same at both weights.

Anyway, congrats on your progress! 🥰🏆

Hey Moody_Gang53, I saw a post from someone else who was saying they've had body image issues since they were eight. This med helped them fix it - maybe it can help you too?

Wowza, you look fantastic! It's like a total makeover! Any loose skin issues? If not, what's the secret?

I was lucky, not too much loose skin. Staying hydrated, lifting weights, and time are what I'd recommend.

I'm 125 and 5'4" and you look way skinnier than me! Skin removal surgery? I began at about 180lbs and have saggy skin on my stomach and thighs, and it's awful. Spill the tea, OP!

Moody_Gang53, please! I'm so tired of my loose skin. It is demoralizing.

Someone mentioned needing time. I've seen people drop like 100+ pounds and *still* feel fat. It's wild! Takes time for the brain to catch up. They see the pics, but the mind still sees the old them. They worry about fitting into spaces, even though they obviously fit now.
