Cheap GLP-1s soon?

Generic sema at $3 manufacturing is plausible - the molecule is not complex at scale. Patent expiry is what holds the price; once it goes, the competitive compression is usually fast.
 
The $50 Medicare/Medicaid deal has stipulations that narrow who actually qualifies - the gap for people who don't qualify hasn't changed. The patent cliff is the real price mechanism; the political announcements are claiming credit for what market competition was already set to deliver.
