Closet Jackpot! 🎉

Hong Kong Yanpep International
The 'what if' monster closet full of sizes 11 to 26W is such an accurate description of the psychological backup storage everyone who's lost and gained keeps. Holding onto the full range because the body might need any of them again is the lived experience of cycling. Getting to the point where the too-small clothes actually fit again is when the archive finally makes sense.

Three wardrobe rotations is the standard experience for anyone losing meaningful weight - the smart approach is a few anchor pieces at each size rather than fully restocking. It saves money and frustration when the next size down shows up faster than expected.

Two black garbage bags of clothes is the volume this kind of loss actually produces and the OP at two pairs of jeans is just getting started. The shopping instinct that kicks in when everything is suddenly too big can go either direction - some people wait until they know where they're landing and some just start buying. How far into the journey are you and where do you think the closet situation ends up?

the traffic stop story is genuinely hilarious, that's a new category of win. mine was realizing the outdoor gear i had bought in the extra-large size the year before didn't fit anymore and i had never even used it. the closet purge is one thing but finding gear you bought for a bigger version of yourself is its own milestone

Ha. Fair warning, once your next batch arrives your size shifts again. Spent way too much on clothes since right after I finally got into a size, it wasn't long before those were too roomy too.
Nice problem to have, sure, though a pricey one, lol.

Ha, welcome to skinny-land! Congrats on the non-scale win. And don't toss those jeans just yet, wait a bit and they'll cycle right back into style.

This!!
Had a smaller pair of jeans tucked in my closet and figured I'd try them on just for fun. Turns out they fit even better than when I first got them, and my current pants are actually running about two sizes too large.
Sometimes stacking clothes side by side really drives the change home

Yes, same with my ring and my fat undies, both slide off now. I bought a set of ring sizers and binned the undies. Ring size dropped from 7-8 to 4 1/2-5. The undies... let's just say big girl panties took on a new meaning.

I gave away some really nice denim shorts early this year, back when I figured it was all hopeless. Cleaned out my closet and passed along most of my smaller clothes. Now I'm swimming in stuff 2-3 sizes bigger and haven't bought anything new yet :)

Went shopping last night and grabbed two pairs of slacks plus a cute top that goes with one of them. Wanted more but my size was sold out in the other colors, so maybe i'll order online. Dresses were a bust tho. I need sleeves, at least short ones, and something below the knee. The few that qualified hit my ankles because im short, or they were way too dressy for the office. One dress from last summer still fits great, the rest hang off me and are heading to the donation pile. Not super hopeful about finding more but whatever, slacks are what i wear most anyway.

You just made my day! Huge congrats, hopefully those clothes find a lovely second life!! I'm a total clothes horse, with whole wardrobes in around 4 sizes. When my last big drop happened I gladly donated everything, and then the regain meant buying a plus size set again, then a smaller 3X set after an injury and more weight. So many wardrobes!! I trust maintenance will hold now, since I'm aiming to remain on it lifelong. Getting back into my vintage clothes will be great, I own loads from two decades or more ago, so even things that were new then count as vintage now LOL
