Coming off GLP-1s... anyone else nervous?

Been on semaglutide for a year and a half, at 0.5mg weekly. No real nausea, just some constipation. Used to go twice a day, now I need a lot of fiber and water to keep things regular, otherwise it's every other day maybe.

For those in maintenance, are you considering stopping your GLP-1?

I was over 450lbs at my heaviest. I'd strongly recommend working with a nutritionist and maybe a therapist to address any underlying eating issues before stopping. The food cravings might come roaring back.

If the set point theory is accurate (and who knows if it is!), it's believed the body needs around a year at a stable weight to adjust its 'set point'.

My plan is to slowly reduce to a maintenance dose. Then, after half a year, consider lowering that further. And again after a full year.

How do you feel at 202? I've dropped 120lbs in just over a year. I can move around much easier but my knees are still killing me, haha.

Congrats! You look fantastic! I actually stopped a few lbs shy of my goal weight to keep myself motivated to maintain my new habits.

I'm usually bad at sticking with good habits, so I was worried about regaining the weight if I wasn't careful. That's why I went off Ozempic a bit earlier than planned. So far it's worked out well. No regain, and I'm continuing a healthy lifestyle and reached my goal.

It's important to continue your journey after you stop Ozempic.

It's interesting to me that some people get constipation. Before semaglutide, I was going to the bathroom maybe 3-4 times a day and always hungry. Now it's down to 1-2 times, and I can go longer without eating. It’s actually been a relief because it was so inconvenient before.

Down almost 55 lb, from 205 to 150, in 4 months.
Don't wanna lose any more.
I decreased my dose from 0.7 to 0.3.
For maintenance, I'm spacing out the injections.
Every 8, then 10, then 14 days? Still limiting gluten and added sugar, and still hitting the gym most days.
Good luck to everyone on this journey!

That's awesome progress. Was the shot solely responsible for all your weight loss? What dietary strategies have you been looking into for after you stop the injections?

I lost like 95lbs with keto and walking almost 12k steps a day in about 18 months. Then I started the shot and went from 280 to 230 in about 14 months. I stopped a couple months ago and lost another 10lbs just by sticking to low carb and high protein/fat. How often are you exercising?

You look amazing! I've lost about 95 lbs but have hit a plateau even though I work out every day. Did you ever hit a plateau?

I think about it, but I'm also nervous. I saw a thread where someone said their doctor told them to stop Ozempic because their blood sugar was too low. They were worried about regaining weight and becoming diabetic again. Seems like a second opinion might be a good idea in that situation.

Agreed. If you're diabetic, you're *always* diabetic. It's about managing it. Stopping meds completely might not be the right move; maybe just lower the dose or find another medication that works better.

That's solid advice. I think understanding *why* you gained weight in the first place is super important. Just stopping the medication without addressing the root cause is a recipe for regain.

That sounds like a reasonable approach. Tapering off slowly seems much safer than just stopping cold turkey. I'm thinking of experimenting with stretching out the time between injections as a way to wean myself off.

I saw a guy post about his experience coming off Ozempic after losing over 100lbs. Said it's been a battle, but he's been maintaining his weight. He's been focusing on diet and exercise. Check out the community, might be helpful.
