Coming off Sema... Advice?

For those who have reached their goal weight, what are your strategies for tapering off semaglutide and avoiding weight regain? I'm getting close to my target, maybe 10-15 more pounds to go, so I want to start planning.

Thanks for posting! A friendly reminder to all: please stick to discussing only FDA-approved formulations of semaglutide. No discussions about sourcing or selling, including via PM. Be cautious of anyone offering medications through private messages, as they are not endorsed.

I've already put back on almost a dozen pounds. The key is to stick to the exact same eating habits you had while on the medication, even after the cravings return. You'll have less appetite at first, so maintenance is key.

I stopped abruptly and haven't regained any weight; I still only feel like eating once a day. It's been several months. My sister needs meds to control cravings because she had bariatric surgery. She's lost over 200 pounds. Congrats! My weight loss was straightforward, but my sister has struggled her whole life, so I understand it's not easy for everyone.

Fantastic achievement! If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you? I'm three months in, using 1.7 mg of Wegovy, and I've only gone from 215 to 195. I have mobility issues, so it's harder for me to be active. My goal is around 150-160. I primarily want to reduce upper body weight, but my limited movement makes it challenging.

I'll be honest: I was on sema for about half a year and reached my goal, even dipping a bit below it to give myself some leeway. Within a couple of months after stopping, I gained back 15-20 pounds. Now I'm back on a lower dose, hoping to learn to manage cravings this time. I don't want to be on it forever, or can I afford it for that long. The funny thing is I initially lost 100 pounds naturally, but am now dependent on the medication to lose the last pounds.

Well done! If you don’t mind my asking, how long did it take you? I’m only a month in, so I am curious about other people's experiences!

That's unfortunately common. Some studies show that people who restart semaglutide don't lose as much weight as first-timers. It's partly psychological and requires even stricter adherence.

Good to know. I'll keep that in mind and plan accordingly. Maybe I'll try to stretch out my doses further and further apart.

Yeah, I've heard that BioKing. It's like your body gets used to it. I'm fighting the good fight though! Gym 3x a week now, tracking everything I eat. Not giving up!

I've heard some people have success managing food noise after stopping GLP-1s by really limiting simple carbs and sugar. Apparently sugar feeds bad gut bacteria, making cravings worse.
