Compounded GLP-1s Still A Thing?

I think the 1.5 million estimate is conservative. It's good they are acknowledging the affordability issues though.
 
I noticed the article seemed more focused on Novo protecting their profits than actually making the medication accessible. It sounds like they want to rush to market to maintain their dominance. Not a shock, really.
 
Maybe they should lower the price... A large chunk of the market is sensitive to price. Unless you have a ton of money, price matters. Basic economics suggests a lower price gets you more customers while still providing a good profit.
 
I saw a different estimate suggesting a third of the 31 million+ GLP-1 users are on compounded versions. Seems like there are conflicting numbers floating around. It feels like maybe 1 in 12 are on the compounded.

It's kinda funny that Novo is complaining about people bypassing the FDA's rules after their own problems with regulators. Maybe they know something about it?
 
Found this old post. Same thing happening here. Hard to find foods that appeal but hunger is still real. Lots of gagging that sometimes turns into throwing up. Did it get better for you?
 
From what I've read, many compounders are adding various vitamins or other ingredients that the brand name meds don't have to try and skirt the rules. It's a gray area, for sure.
 
My doc said not to worry about it. He thinks compounded will be around for a while and plenty of compounding pharmacies will be still fulfilling prescriptions
 
The pharmaceutical development cost argument is real - the pipeline for next-generation medications depends on the financial return on current ones. The OP's estimate of 100k on alternatives is probably conservative given the prescription access challenges. The tension between innovation funding and access cost is the structural problem that doesn't have a clean answer.
