Compounded GLP-1s vs. 'Gray Market'?

Hey everyone,

I've been using a compounded version of tirz for a few months now and the results have been pretty great. But with the whole situation around multi-dose vials and patents, I'm a little worried about whether it will still be available.

I really want to stick with a doctor and dietitian, but I'm trying to avoid paying crazy high prices.

Has anyone had experience with getting compounded or 'gray market' versions from other sources? And if so, how did you discuss it with your doc?

Thanks!

I just told my doctor that I get my compound meds from an online pharmacy. We already talked about how the branded drugs were too expensive, so she knew I would go that route. I just didn't say that *I* was the compounding pharmacist. LOL

I also want my PCP to oversee my tirz use, and to have it documented in my medical history. But, I actually haven't told her about where I get it from. She keeps sending scripts to that specific pharmacy and I just ignore their texts. 😂 When she asks if I require a refill, I say I don't. 🙃 Probably not ideal, but it's working for the moment.

I told my doc I initially used tirz from a telehealth provider. Then I mentioned I'd switched to compounded reta. He upgraded my blood tests (I am on TRT) and keeps an eye on things.

To Patient_Mango229: Some patients do find Mounjaro more effective for weight loss than Ozempic. Mounjaro works on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, potentially leading to greater benefits. However, side effects can vary. Discuss thoroughly with your doctor.

I've been a really slow loser on Ozempic. Like, maybe 10 pounds in four months. It's discouraging, but I keep telling myself slow progress is still progress. Seeing stories like this give me hope!

That's the goal! I want my doc to be aware and monitor my bloodwork, even if I'm not getting the meds directly through her. It's about harm reduction and being responsible.
