Cried in a store today... Happy tears!

I've been taking a GLP-1 med for about 4 months, and I had a moment today. I'm a 57-year-old guy, and I've gone from a size 58 to a 46 in pants. I was browsing for work clothes and couldn't find a 3XL shirt. The clerk suggested I try a 2XLT. I gave him a look, but I tried it on, and it fit great. He said it looks good, and I just started crying. I told him about my heart scare last summer and how the doc said I needed to drop weight. Without my new doctor, I wouldn't even know about these meds. It sounds silly, but it's been an emotional ride.

Congrats to you! I had a similar experience. I was wearing size 22 jeans and I went to the store and grabbed size 18. They were much too big, so the sales lady brought me a 16 then a 14. She said she was going to grab a 12, and I was like 'no way'. Well, they fit and I lost it!

Congratulations!!

I'm down from 285 to 165 today.

Get ready. People will start treating you differently because of FPH (fat people hate) is so real.

I am lighter now than I was as a kid.

The positive attention is both great and weird.

People are nicer, but it's different when they help you just because you're thin.

It makes you wonder what life would have been like if I had not been heavy.

I am mad at myself I waited so long! Don't let it get you down and enjoy it!

I bought cheap clothes during the weight loss. Once I met my goal, I sold those clothes online. Then, with that money, I bought the expensive stuff I always wanted. I also got a lot of boots, which I could never fit because of my calves.

Keep up the awesome work!

That is incredible! I can only imagine how emotional it must have been to realize your success. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep going!

I remember when I had lost a considerable amount of weight, maybe around 100 pounds, and I was at a store looking for a sport jacket. The salesperson removed one from the mannequin because he couldn’t find my size on the rack. That was when it sunk in.

Well done on your progress. I'm happy you had that moment.

You aren't alone in feeling confused after losing weight and being in clothing stores.

I saw some artisan jackets on sale. I was looking at a large one when a saleswoman said she had more sizes. I thought she meant bigger sizes, like XL or XXL. I felt a little down because I thought I was working so hard but was still seen as larger. But I wanted to see how it looked, so I asked her to grab another size. To my surprise, she brought back a small. I laughed and said there was no way I could fit my arm in there, but it was actually too baggy. I didn't cry, but I was confused all day.

It takes time to realize you are smaller than you were.

Same! I went nuts at a store last Christmas. It was the first time in over 30 years I could buy a medium shirt. Before that, I was wearing a 3XL. There is no better feeling. Happy tears.

I get it! I'm down about 50lbs since July. I was throwing clothes in a donation box, and my wife asked what if I gain weight when I stop the meds? I yelled, "I'll NEVER stop the meds!" I surprised myself, but I meant it.

Congrats! You are not the only one. Just this morning, I grabbed pants from my closet I tried on before starting this, which couldn't even get close to fitting. I put them on, and they closed with no issues. I wore them to work.

As the saying goes, we get through life via "small victories." This was mine today.

Anyone else find old clothes they thought were too small and now they're falling off?

Yes! I had two pairs of nice jeans in the donate pile because I didn’t try them on during my weight loss journey and now they are too big! I should've tried them on sooner. Now they're going to goodwill.

I went from over 400lbs to... well, much less thanks to this medicine. My back doesn't hurt anymore, I'm sleeping better, and I don't crave junk food all the time. I never believed people when they said cravings vanished. Now I do!!

I know what you mean, Lil_Cookie. My wife asked what I would do with my old clothes. I told her about a shop nearby that buys/sells used clothes. If they take them, you can get cash or store credit. They give you more for store credit, so that's what I do. Then I get new clothes that fit. Anything they won't take, I give to a women's shelter. I started at an XXL and am now a Medium!
