Diet sodas mess up fasting?

If you're taking peptides on an empty stomach, like GHRP-2 where timing seems key for insulin and effectiveness... do zero-calorie drinks break the fast? I drink diet soda or unsweetened tea a lot, especially in the morning and before bed. I figured they were fine since they have no sugar or calories, but maybe they still cause an insulin response? I'll switch to water if I need to, but I'd rather not!

I think zero-calorie drinks are fine during a fast. I wouldn't worry about a few calories either. When I do longer fasts on my GLP-1, I use electrolyte mixes for the potassium, sodium, and magnesium. They usually have artificial sweeteners too.

Artificial sweeteners shouldn't cause much of an insulin reaction. This meta-analysis I saw showed that post-meal glucose, insulin, GLP-1, GIP, PYY, ghrelin, and glucagon levels were almost the same as when people drank water.

Using ChatGPT for nutrition advice is a bad idea. And most Americans consume way too much sodium already.

What if the second head was super smart? You'd always have someone to bounce ideas off of, and they could watch your back! Plus, you could make them answer calls you don't want to take. Of course, deciding which head is the 'real' one could be a problem.

Did the attachment work? I just clicked on it but I can't seem to get it to open. It was "The Effect of Non-Nutritive Sweetened Beverages on Postparandial Glycemic and Endocrine Responses" by Zhang and others.

I overdid it on Valentine's Day dinner after a light day 'cause I knew my husband was making steak and sweet potatoes. I'm on 0.5mg. Felt super nauseous that night. Today, not so much.

I've been there, ByeByeBackfat. The slowed digestion is real! Usually feel better after a day or two and...well, you know! Walking really helps move things along for me.

Besides the obvious (gym and good food), what tools are you guys using for weight loss?

I use:

1. Food Scale - I prep meals every week.
2. Meal Prep App - Saves recipes, plans meals, counts calories.
3. Mirror pics - To track progress.

Food scale for sure, especially for peanut butter. Protein tracker to make sure I hit my protein goals. Progress pics are cringe but super motivating. Shot tracking, too. The meds help, but systems make it stick!

I agree with Ozempic_OG_21, systems are key. I'm doing strength training a few times a week, aiming for a step goal, and prioritizing protein at every meal. I track protein, fiber, water, and my shots in an app to spot trends.

marketing's crazy heavy right now which is sketchy. meds help but real issue is our food system. chemicals banned elsewhere, no sugar tax like ireland has. we need better food access, not just pills.

When the appetite suppression hit, I felt kind of empty without the food noise. So I started exercising, found simple recipes to hit my goals, spent time reading or doing little beauty things—anything positive to fill that space. Sixteen months out and I still can't believe it. Lost 42 percent of my body weight and I'm a normal size for the first time ever.

spent forever on this during my first weeks. gotta eat 25g real fiber daily—raspberries, peas, beans. i found the balance matters & you need all the recommended water too. i add a teaspoon of miralax or benefiber a few times a week & do an intestinal massage.

gained 20 lbs with a nutritionist who specialized in eating disorders. telling an emotional eater to give in to cravings was the worst advice. only now with the med am i able to finally lose that weight. i try to tell the difference between real hunger and just wanting to eat.
