Doc says I'm done losing?!

Stat's: Started at 210, now 150, I'm 5'9 and on 5mg. Had a chat with the surgeon about a tummy tuck to get rid of some excess skin. I thought I needed to drop at least another 5-10 pounds to be in the middle of my BMI but she said I absolutely can't lose any more! Apparently, I need some fat reserves for proper healing and she thinks I'm getting too close to being underweight. Also, she said the skin itself could weigh almost ten pounds. Glad I went when I did. If you're thinking of surgery, don't wait too long and get too skinny. I'm trying to accept 150 as my maintenance weight. I thought thinner was a size 4-6 but I'm an 8. I'm trying to focus on building muscle. This medicine is amazing, though.

Hey! I'm also 5'8", so I know what you mean about the size 4 thing. If I saw you at the gym, I'd think you were super fit. Definitely a size 6 or so. Once you get the surgery, you'll probably feel like you're at your goal!

I think the extra tummy skin is making you think you need to lose more weight. Once you have that addressed, you'll see how thin you really are. Be proud!

I went from 220 to 155. I'm still ordering large-sized clothes, thinking they will fit, but they're always too big. I am not used to this! You look great!

You look very slim. Start focusing on maintaining your current weight, get the surgery, and enjoy life! You did an amazing job!

I'm also your height, Keto_Coffee. I have a big belly. It bothers me a lot because it's all I see. I can't lose any more weight. I'm working on building muscle. It's hard to accept that you don't need to lose weight. My whole life has been losing weight. I don't know who I am without it. You got this!

I'm also 5'9", and that's my goal weight as well. You'll need time to get used to your new body. It's all mental. But you're having surgery and can strength train to keep changing your body.

It's the loose skin. We've all lost so much weight and look good in clothes. But looking good naked is the next challenge. It's hard. You look amazing, by the way.

I also had my skin removal at about 160. This past August. You're going to be surprised by how thin you are without the skin. They removed 10 pounds from my midsection and more from my arms. Now I'm 133 and trying to gain weight!

I'm 5'5", and my goal weight is 145lbs, lol. At 135, I looked amazing, but since I'm 42, I couldn't pull it off without looking gaunt. Midlife requires an extra 10 pounds to make up for collagen loss. Look at Stacey London; she is gorgeous but looks like skin on bones. After your surgery, you won't care about the scale anymore. You'll be happy to feel like yourself again.

I can't afford surgery for my loose skin. What are my options? I'm in the UK, so the NHS probably won't cover it!
I've heard that collagen supplements can help improve skin elasticity. Also, staying super hydrated is key! It might be worth looking into red light therapy too, although I haven't tried it myself. Good luck!

I agree, it's a common issue after significant weight loss. Building muscle underneath can definitely help improve the appearance, but sometimes surgery is the only real option for significant excess skin. It really depends on your age and skin elasticity.

I'm doing my best with strength training to build up muscle. Hopefully it helps minimize post-surgery wrinkling. I've seen some people talking about how their stomach skin wrinkles when they flex, and I'm hoping to avoid that as much as possible!

at 8mg now, started at 0.5 back in january. never got major appetite suppression. eating small portions every 2-2.5 hours, 1800 cal, 140g protein, 30g fiber. picked up the drug for glucose benefits but lost 15lbs and gained muscle too. ordering Mots-C to add to the stack.
