Doc wants me on Ozempic?!

Yeah honestly I love it, but the issue is my prescription's only written for wegovy, so I can't use it for ozempic. My doctor's not great about listening to me though, lol. Might have to look into a different online provider instead.
 
I actually handle prior authorization requests for work, and this typically isn't approved without an existing diabetes diagnosis on file. Might be worth checking directly with a provider on this one.
 
Ozempic's generally reserved for type 2 diabetes prescriptions only. Might be worth booking a consult at a weight management clinic instead, if you qualify there they'll likely put you on Wegovy or Zepbound.
 
Ozempic's specifically labeled for diabetes, wegovy's the one built for weight loss specifically. Comes down to insurance classification even though they're essentially the same compound. That's the breakdown my pcp gave me comparing Ozempic against wegovy, and moun against zepbound.
 
They technically *can*, doesn't mean they will. Mine's genuinely supportive of me being on Ozempic, but doesn't write the script himself. Referred me instead to a specialist in obesity medicine who's also an endocrinologist. That doctor has a whole support system in place, including a dietitian I see regularly, plus frequent bloodwork.
 
I live with bipolar disorder, and it would be a genuinely wild take for any doctor to tell me to avoid medication just because I'd need it long term.
Your doctor doesn't sound like they understand obesity treatment at all. Even before this drug class existed, she could have referred you to a dietitian!
Dealt with disordered eating since my teens. Every approach failed. The moment I started Ozempic, something finally clicked. Felt like an antidepressant kicking in for the first time. No amount of talk therapy was ever going to fix something rooted in biology.
