Down 115lbs since April '23!

Started in April of last year at 307. Down to 192 now and finally on the highest dose! It's been a journey, but I'm so glad I decided to try this. Used to be pretty athletic, and spent over a decade in the service. But at 35 some medical stuff happened and some meds really changed things. But now thanks to this medication and all of you, I've got my energy back, my health is great (my bloodwork has been awesome for over a year), and I can move better, even if I'm not quite as quick as I used to be, haha.

Awesome work! I'm thinking about starting the medication myself... Are you still taking it, and do you plan to stop at some point?

Wow, you look like a totally new person. I had weight gain issues from a medical condition that kept me from physical activity. Mine was a genetic kidney issue. I had a gastric bypass back in 2014, but the prednisone they put me on after I gained almost 100 lbs in a few months. Then they said I had to lose weight to get a transplant. I lost 140+ lbs, kept it off for 7 years, then transplant came and so did the daily prednisone again.

So, the weight went up again, plus long-term steroid use gave me T2D. My A1C wouldn't go back down. My doctor suggested the medication we're talking about, then we had to fight my insurance because they wanted me on metformin, which can cause kidney failure. It took forever to get approved. Sept '23 will be my first year on it.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the support. To answer some questions:

Diet: I try to focus on protein and veggies. I don't really follow a strict diet, but I try to make healthy choices most of the time. Portion control is a big thing for me now.

Exercise: I try to walk 30 minutes most days. Nothing crazy. Sometimes I do some light weightlifting. The important thing is just to stay active.

Plateaus: Yeah, I hit a couple. The biggest one was around the 220 mark. I just kept at it, and eventually, it broke. Sometimes you just have to be patient.

Wanted to share my experience too. HW 258, now I'm at 138 after about 11 months. It's incredible how much better I feel.

Wow, that's amazing! Did you have any issues with extra skin after losing that much weight?

I think it's important to pay attention to your body and report anything unusual to your doctor. I saw a post recently where someone's weight loss masked symptoms of something serious.

Agreed. Rapid weight loss CAN be a red flag. If you suddenly start losing weight much faster than expected, it's worth checking in with your doc.
