Down 150+ lbs?! What?!

Hi everyone. So, I'm dealing with paralysis from the waist down. Last January, I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks with a really bad infection and had to have surgery right away. After getting out, I talked to my doctor about trying a GLP-1. While I was in the hospital, the infection messed with my blood sugar so much that I was able to get it covered by my insurance. The side effects haven't been fun, but it's been worth it. The crazy thing is that I'm only prescribed a low dose, like 0.5mg, and most weeks I'm only taking 0.25mg. My clothing size dropped a lot!

Wow, you look like a totally different person! Congrats! I thought I was doing well losing 50+ pounds in a few months, but your progress is incredible! Diet is so important for weight loss.

I saw a post online about someone ending their GLP-1 treatment. They mentioned that

and that some insurances want you to fail on metformin before approving coverage. It's awful!

I've also read about people having trouble getting coverage. Some have had success with a "peer-to-peer review" where their endocrinologist emphasizes "continuity of care." It might be worth looking into if you run into issues.

It is truly infuriating

. I heard some GLP-1s are cheaper if you buy them directly from the manufacturer, but it's still expensive, like several hundred dollars. I wish healthcare was more straightforward.
