I've been prepping intensely for a grading, plus weight training. Last year I suffered a bad injury where I popped my Achilles hiking for hours. Getting back down was horrible. I gradually put on around 17 pounds over the year. My doctor suggested losing some weight, along with physio, to help my feet and ankles cope better.
My body fat has dropped too. My waist is down a couple of inches. My thighs are always gonna be big, and I'm cool with that. My quads have gotten even bigger with all the stances and kicks. I've definitely noticed less cellulite, though.
Funny thing is, it doesn't seem like I've dropped 20 pounds. I see other folks who have, and it's way more obvious.
I know I've gained a good bit of muscle, and proof is in how my uniform fits and how much quicker I feel.
I feel a bit silly because it's less about looks and more about not constantly hurting my feet, but looking good is a nice bonus, right?
