Down 200+ lbs! Keeping it off...

This has been wild. I never thought a med could do this. Life changing to say the least.

I kicked things off on MJ last summer around 455 lbs. For the last month, I've been focused on maintaining around 230. I'm now about 225 and playing with my calorie intake to keep the scale steady.

Now for the real challenge. Not gaining it all back! I'm planning to stay on MJ for another year at least if I can.

My daughter's been in maintenance mode for over a year. She's gradually lowered her dose from 15 to 7.5, taking it every 10-12 days. She hasn't put on any weight and is keeping up with strength training. You've got this!

My doc says once you start these meds, you’re on them forever. Even if you eat well, watch your calories, and exercise, you'll likely regain a good chunk of the weight.

Amazing work! Just be vigilant about watching for the scale to creep up; for some of us, it's not just about calories in vs. calories out. My body wants to gain weight without the meds. I had gastric sleeve surgery back in 2014 and have eaten a low-calorie diet since then, but the weight came back as soon as I ate more than 500 calories a day. My body fights against being a low weight. I might be able to reduce my dose, but I have to stay on something (a week off, and I gain 4+ lbs). If you start gaining again, consider going back on a low dose; just enough to help your body from storing excess fat.

That's incredible! My highest was 476, and I started Zepbound tonight at about 422 (didn’t weigh myself this morning since I wasn’t expecting to start; been waiting for months!). Any advice for someone new to all this, with a similar amount of weight to lose? I'm feeling overwhelmed but hopeful.

You're killing it! Huge congrats. Like you said, the real work begins now--stay focused on staying healthy and happy.

Hey! Congrats on starting your journey! My advice would be to take it one day, one meal at a time. Don't get too caught up in the big numbers. Focus on making small, sustainable changes. You got this!

That's been my experience too. It's like my body fights against any attempt to maintain a lower weight without the medication. It's frustrating!

To @Doc_Queen: Don't feel overwhelmed. Just stick with it, and don't be afraid to adjust your dosage if needed, in consultation with your doctor, of course.

Just remember that everyone's journey is different. What works for one person might not work for another. Keep experimenting and find what works best for YOU. And celebrate every milestone, no matter how small!
