Pics or it didn't happen! First one is before, second is now! Ask away! Here's the story: Woman, 52, 5'6". Started at 188 lbs in Oct '24. Now 138 lbs.

Perimenopause was awful last year and I gained like 30+ lbs so fast. Hubby started keto and lost weight super fast, meanwhile I couldn't lose anything. Started .25mg of a GLP-1 at the end of Oct '24 and it was a game changer. Hardly any side effects, a little indigestion if I overindulge or eat a lot of sugar. The constant hunger vanished! Went up to .5mg in Nov and stayed put until March '25. My doctor felt that as long as I was seeing results, there was no need to increase the dose. In March I went to .75mg because I wanted to lose the final 10 lbs. And here I am!

Good stuff:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats are basically gone! My doc mentioned studies about Semaglutide and hormones that suggest it's not a coincidence.
  • I crave protein and veggies now. I have no desire to eat an entire family size bag of potato chips.
  • I don’t want to drink as much. I still enjoy a beer but not five or six.
  • I like how I look in pictures now. We’re going to the beach soon and I plan on wearing a swimsuit!

Bad stuff:

  • I didn’t exercise so I probably lost some muscle mass. Trying to lift weights now (ugh).
  • If I overeat or eat a ton of sugar I'm running to the bathroom later. :P
  • None of my clothes fit. I missed my chance to wear some old pants that I loved. :(

What's next?

I want to stay on it because of the hot flash relief. But I’m going to lower the dose and see what happens. Maybe micro dosing. Maybe I'll lose another 5 lbs so I have some wiggle room for when I stop.

7 months ago I never imagined I would be here!!!!

That's awesome! I'm down 33 lbs, 27 to go. Starting month 5 on another GLP-1 drug. I'm curious about the hormone angle. I'm 55f and menopausal. I was on HRT for nearly a year before the GLP-1. After starting the GLP-1's I had some bleeding. I thought maybe the drug or weight loss was balancing my hormones and the HRT was then too much estrogen. Now I'm off estrogen and no hot flashes. Maybe there's something to this.

Amazing results!!! I'm so happy you're feeling better! I'm having perimenopause symptoms too and I'm noticing improvements since starting the GLP-1! I just did my 3rd shot today. Seeing stories like yours makes me hopeful and excited! Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Salad_Life! These meds are good for more than just weight loss. I also have PCOS and started taking one of these drugs to deal with insulin resistance. I've also noticed it's helped with inflammation, fatigue, and my blood pressure is better now.

I'm down about 50 pounds since January! Adding workouts now. If I don't feel like it, I remember that I'm learning to trust myself by showing up for myself. It's helping me get things done. Thanks for sharing!
