Down 60+ lbs!

Hey everyone, I never thought I'd be making this post. Back in the summer of '25, I started on semaglutide, not really expecting much. I mean, my relationship with food was a mess. I'm talking full-blown food addiction, binging, emotional eating – the works. Turns out, feeling normal around food is pretty awesome! I remember lurking here before my first dose, hoping I could pay it forward one day. I kept saying I'd post after losing 25 lbs, then 35, then 45... well, here I am, down 62! I stopped taking pics when I hit 215 because I was embarrassed. I'd actually lost weight before, going from 250 to 175 over two years but when my mom passed, I spiraled and gained it all back. Anyway, here are a couple of old pics at my heaviest. Thanks to everyone in this group for the support!

Thanks for posting!

Wow, your post really hit home. The whole food addiction/emotional eating thing is something a lot of us struggle with, even if we don't talk about it. Losing your mom and seeing past progress disappear must've been incredibly difficult. It's amazing that this medication helped you feel normal around food, and congrats on the 62 lbs! Thanks for sharing—posts like yours give hope to people who are scared to start and wondering if anything can help.

The freedom from constantly thinking about food?? Priceless! Seriously, I'm loving not being obsessed with my next meal. ;) Congrats on your success!

Exactly. It's the emotional eating and addiction aspect that makes this different from just dieting. It addresses the brain's reward system and hunger cues. Losing 60+ lbs is fantastic! And being able to enjoy life without being consumed by food thoughts is what it's all about. So sorry about your mom. Grief can definitely trigger emotional eating. Congrats on getting your life back, MandoLando!

This resonates so much! I started in late August '25 at about 260 lbs, and I'm down to 190 or less now. About a 70-pound loss! And still only at a low dose of sema. Best decision ever. People who doubted me before are now asking for info, it's hilarious.

Just a heads-up, I've been dealing with some hair shedding. If this is happening to anyone else, I'd suggest starting minoxidil spray ASAP. I also take saw palmetto to block DHT, and it's been a game-changer. You can find both on that big online retailer for cheap.

I heard that Ozempic can help with other habits, like maybe even cutting back on alcohol. Is this true?
Absolutely! It wasn't something I was expecting, but I have no interest in drinking these days. It's almost like a switch flipped in my brain. So many people have said the same thing!

Down 60 in what, about a year? That's moving. The body recomposition that comes with that kind of loss is real - most people are surprised by how different things like sleep and energy feel. Keep at it.
