Down 65 lbs in 7 months!

I began taking a GLP-1 med this past June when I found out I had type 2 diabetes. I was pushing 290 pounds, and now I'm closing in on my goal of 225. I've been doing more exercise, and mostly watching what I eat.

Thanks for the support, everyone! My diabetes diagnosis was my wake-up call. I basically stopped sugar. I swapped my usual sugary coffee for plain black coffee, stopped drinking regular soda and only had sugar-free when I really needed it (sugar free root beer is pretty good!), and avoided sweets, even though I still sneak some sometimes.

If I ate carbs with the family, I used a smaller plate. When eating out, I tried to pick healthier things even though it's hard. I try to walk a few miles often and stay active when I can. I only weigh myself once a week. Sometimes I'd lose a pound, sometimes closer to three. I was able to stop taking my blood pressure pills, but still on metformin, along with the GLP-1. I also take a statin for cholesterol but I’m seeing the doctor next week about that.

Thanks again, and keep going. You'll get there!

Geeky-Win as a medical professional, I'm curious: Were you prescribed Ozempic *specifically* for the diabetes, or for weight loss as well? Sometimes it's hard to get it covered just for weight management.

I was prescribed it for the type 2 diabetes. My doc said the weight loss would be a nice bonus, lol. Insurance covered it no problem.
