Okay, so I stumbled upon an old photo deep in my phone's memory. It's honestly the best representation of my heaviest, and seeing it now is almost unreal. I was pushing 200lbs, and I vividly remember how awful I felt all the time.
I learned about these weight-loss meds around that time and heard they were helping people... but I ignored my aching knees for another couple of years before finally consulting my doctor. Seriously, what was I thinking? Now, I'm much healthier, which is fantastic, but I'm still wrestling with the fact that I suffered needlessly. It didn't have to be such a struggle. Self-acceptance could have come so much easier. I know weight shouldn't define worth, but it's easy to fall into that trap.
If you're even considering trying a GLP-1, just do it. Make the appointment, go see your doctor, and be upfront about why you're there. Lay it all out on the table. Advocate for yourself! My knee problems could have been avoided. You deserve to be heard, and your health is paramount. Stop putting it off!
Just rambling now. I've made my point.
Anyway, yay for losing 72lbs! I actually hit 115lbs last fall and have been on and off the meds since. Right now, I'm around 125lbs, so I've gained about 10lbs back over a couple of months, but I've been fluctuating within a 2lb range ever since.
My periods are getting wonky again (PCOS life), so I restarted a low dose today. I'd like to lose more, but my cycle is my priority, so I'll adjust the dose based on that. Also planning to start working out and see how that impacts things. Just taking it one step at a time, I guess.
