Down almost 100lbs - sharing my story

Hong Kong Yanpep International
It's possible, truly. I thought I was hopeless at first, like maybe it just doesn't work for everyone. But this works with my PCOS and diabetes better than the other med did. I feel it. Calorie deficit, gym 5-6 times a week for 1-2 hours, cardio and weights. My fitness app is my best friend now.

Lost 164 pounds getting to my goal, not quite what you're aiming for but still over a hundred, figured I'd weigh in anyway. Calorie counting is what worked for me, and yes I brought it down gradually, but the lowest point was around 1260, only briefly. Once I tried reverse dieting for maintenance, realized that number had been too aggressive since I kept losing steadily even eating more. Realizing that 4-8 pounds every couple months counts as genuinely healthy progress, and even half that number is perfectly fine too, might be worth taking to heart. My loss pattern shifted a lot over time, often two or three weeks of barely any movement followed by a sudden bigger drop, which honestly helped me push through those little plateaus since I trusted the deficit was real and my body would eventually catch up.
On the activity side, around four months in I started feeling the pull to move more and began walking on purpose daily. Didn't connect it to the actual pounds coming off at the time, but overall it left me feeling noticeably better, and it's possible it played a role in the loss too. Definitely believe building that habit has helped me stay steady in maintenance. Eventually added strength training too, which honestly is the one thing I'd have started sooner if I could redo it.

Congrats on everything you've accomplished. Honestly can't offer much perspective for someone starting from 490 lbs, that's just not a road I've walked. Watching those weight-loss documentaries always struck me, the sheer amount some people manage to shed in such short windows. Your journey sounds genuinely compelling. Keep sharing updates!

Congrats! I lost my 100 lbs with MJ and keto and kept it off 2 years. Keto took off the first 30-40, then I had surgery in December 2021. Max weight was 270 at 5'9. MJ came in March 2023 and took off the last ~60 by year end. Why surgery before MJ? After years of trying I'd convinced myself I couldn't lose more. My goal was 230 and I remember telling someone my body just won't drop under 230. So I went for a tummy tuck plus lipo (the doctor said lipo alone would leave loose skin). Healing at 46 was intense. Expect a rough first few days, though it passes. The pain eased after roughly a week, but swelling, wound care, limited mobility and sleeping nearly sitting up lasted around 5 months. I kept my compression garments on faithfully for about 9 months. My surgeon was amazing and attentive.

Hi! Lost close to 100 pounds on MJ myself. Started around 250, down to about 240 before the medication entered the picture back in August 2025, now at 148. Never went above 5mg. Didn't overhaul my diet dramatically - already ate reasonably well, just portions were out of control with little sense of calories, plus some binge eating, easily putting away 2 to 3 thousand calories in one sitting. What mattered most was picking changes I could realistically live with long term. Still wanted food I genuinely enjoyed, didn't want to restrict hard since restriction triggered bingeing for me before. Cooking at home and prepping meals ahead made a real difference. What helped most was simply logging what I was already eating instead of overhauling everything at once.
