The clown pants phase is real. Three sizes too big by the end is a goal you didn't know you had at the start.
 
12 lbs the first 3 weeks and then nothing in week 4 is exactly the pattern a lot of people describe early on. The scale stall after a fast start is frustrating but it almost always breaks again. The 47 lbs in the OP shows what sticking with it through those weeks looks like.
